I'm all the way in Cali...sooooo a new stadium to me is nothing more than a bragging point, but if i'm not mistaken....isn't Jerrah-World a thorn in Snyder's side & the only thing keeping us from #1 on the most valuable sports franchise list?
It is my understanding that he REALLY wants a new SOTA stadium to trump those paper lions in Dallas. I wouldn't mind either...especially if (as said earlier in the thread) they design it to keep the noise in. The louder, the better.
if we get football back in DC, forget about having great tailgate space. It will be a disaster
You know danny wants a new stadium. Better than the one in Dallas. One with a roof that can host superbowls. The city (and everybody else) wants a piece of the RG3 magic money machine.
A roof? Why would anyone want that?
I think it'd be cool to have the team back in D.C. Especially if a new stadium was built on the RFK site.
Also, I wouldn't mind a dome/covered stadium of some sort with the field turf or something like it. It'd increase the chances of hosting a Super Bowl, hold the noise when the crowd gets rowdy and I think it'd help with the speedy team (overall) Shanny is building.

Imagine if the St. Louis arch was bigger, and there was a building built right underneath of it, but not attached.
It does not seem to me like Snyder has any intention to move the team. He has invested a lot in the stadium over the past few years (solar panels, HD screens, etc).
The press asked a Redskins executive about the salary cap penalty and the executive responded, "Ask John Mara." So the press asked Mara and he said, “What they did was in violation of the spirit of the salary cap. "
Oh I see now, even though there was no actual salary cap in 2010 according to the CBA, the "spirit" of the salary cap still existed. Thanks for clearing that up Mara.
This is a terrible idea from top to bottom. From the location, to traffic, to tailgating for starters. If you think traffic to FedEx is bad, this is going to be a nightmare! The tailgating experience will be ruined completely because of the location. The only upside is a closer metro, but I wouldn't mind walking half a mile from the metro to fedex. If the walk bothers you that much, there's plenty of pedicabs that will take you from the metro to the stadium. Higher prices for STHs is pretty bad too.
Thank god Dan has too much invested in FedEx, because this is not going to work out. Also, the Skins live & practice in VA, so I'm fine with MD having a piece of the Skins in FedEx.
Also, for those bringing up the Nationals, keep in mind that Nationals Park only holds 45K people, and traffic there is horrible, and parking is still limited. Imagine a stadium off of Pennsylvania Ave, that holds roughly twice as many people. There's a reason why the Gina's/Jets play in NJ and not Manhattan.
Bottom line: NIGHTMARE, don't do it!

I have no basis for this opinion but I wouldn't be surprised if Dan Snyder has blueprints for a new stadium - probably in DC - already and just waiting for the right circumstances.
In the mean time, it makes sense just to make steady improvements to FedEx. A separate roof structure is an intriguing one, the removal of the upper tier seats could be a prerequisite?

(sorry if somebody already made the joke)
Regarding roofs, I always thought they were overrated. I'm on the other coast and have attended one game in the last 10 years so I don't really have a horse in this race, but in general I've always wondered why an owner doesn't spend the 500M he spent on the roof and just build a super deluxe open roofed stadium. Would you rather host a super bowl every 12 years or have a Lambeau type of atmosphere every home game (especially in the winter)?

It's not like the stadium is unbearably outside the city limits. This would be such a waste of time and money.
