I'm still concerned about him playing next week against a tough as nails Cleveland defense. They will certainly get a fair amount of hits on whoever plays quarterback and anyone who's had knee injuries before will tell you, even with a sprain, the knee will be a little weaker for a while, meaning any subsequent hits to that knee or even hard cuts carry the potential for further injury...

Might not see as much of the Pistol formation that they were killing other teams with so much this season. Without that threat of RG running around gaining yards and getting 1st downs, keeping drives alive, defenses will have a little less to worry about. On obvious passing situations, they can really bring pass rush pressure with blitzes knowing that his mobility will be limited. If you ask me, MOST QB injuries occur while they are IN THE POCKET (see Theismann, Brady, Cunningham). As much as I LOVE to watch RG do this thing, I wouldn't be too upset if they gave him an extra week of rest and let Kirk Cousins take over this game.
Yeah that makes two of us...

Whew - dodged a bullet there. I'm really happy to hear this. I felt sick watching that on replay again and again.

Anyone during the game when RGIII was driving down the field after injury find themselves with their hands on their heads feeling like Griffin was going to kill himself before leaving the game? Oh and going "please stop, please stop" in a pleading fashion?

For those that need it: http://www.knee-pain-explained.com/kneesprain.html. It looks like RGIII may have a grade 2 sprain, but to fully recover it should take at least 2 weeks. Let the man rest and get ready for Philly and Dallas! KC can take care of the Brownies.

    Amen.

He can barely walk - so I'm wondering how he's supposed to play next week. Sprains have wacky healing times...

Yeah I'll be surprised if he plays next week. He couldnt bend the knee at all.

I was there at the game and didn't get to see the play with any TV-clarity. Does anyone have a link to a video capture?

He'll probably push himself to play, just hope the O line & help blockers have a heck of a week if he does play.
It's obviously up to the doctors and RG3. My guess the doctors say it can't get any worse with a brace. AND they shoot the joint up, North Dallas 40-style. It shouldn't hurt his throwing game as the injury is to his back plant leg and many of the throws are slants and bubble screens that can be armed out there. His scrambling will suffer greatly though. The Line needs to continue bringing their A game, if not A+.

THey have stronger medication than your over the counter Advil. Plus all the medical treatment capabilities (ultrasound, heat, ice, range of motion machines), could get him read to play by Friday's practice and Saturday's walk through. Today and tomorrow will certainly be no picnic.

Yes... Me. I'm also nervous about him trying to come back too soon, but who's going to stop him? It's just that recent history for this team suggests that coming back from injury too soon doesn't end well. Hopefully I'm just a Nervous Nellie, but if Kaptain Kirk takes the snaps this week in practice I wouldn't be surprised/ outraged.

^Ouch. At least it doesn't seem hopeless if we have to play Captain Kirk next week. I have confidence the Shannys will implement an effective gameplan regardless.

But Rob's got to start looking downfield more when he breaks the pocket.

No. For us older folk, I was thinking Knicks center Willis Reed. For the younger folks, maybe Byron Leftwich being carried by his Marshall linemen to the line of scrimmage.

I had a feeling it wouldnt be extremely serious because it didnt happen with his foot planted. Its very hard to completely tear ligaments with your leg in the air. With the foot planted it cannot slide thus the ligament tears. He will be very sore and I would be surprised if he plays next week. A sprain is still some damage to ligaments, tendons and tissue.

Yeah you're right. One has a ligament problem in his second toe and the other guy had his knee hyper extended.. I wonder which joint helps you stand up and walk. Garcon walked off the field... Never collapsed, and no one knew he was really even hurt. Come on man. Don't even try comparing the two.
