Biggest reason we need RGIII back? Because if Cousin starts......REX is the backup, right? OH NOES!

Christ he could have two or three concussions already getting " jacked up post hand off" due to the design. Yah, it' cool watching the offense as it screws with defenses heads, but they are still putting hard hits on him when he doesn't run and his penchant for taking off and running is not being tempered at all based on what I see. Too many times he doesn't see a wide open receiver because he's not looking but feeling pressure and rather than sliding around and finding the guy or just taking the extras nano second to look he takes off. RG has all the tools but needs to be more disciplined overall when reading defenses. All people revert to their strengths when under pressure unless they are taught to do something else. RG is not being pushed enough to slide and find the open guy. That is not to say that he doesn't need to run and exploit defenses due to his extreme ability, he does, but beyond that too many plays are designed runs (like this one which was designed to be a run and he gets hurt). It's hard to teach a guy not to go for that last extra few feet or inches when they are such fierce competitors which the play is a run to begin with and the game is on the line.

RG needs to make the vast majority by a long stretch with his brains and arm, and the very threat of him running is enough to keep defenses on their collective heels. Rarely should he be put in danger as a regular part of the offense, which he is. You or anyone can argue against this point, but you will see that this will be a short lived experience, which will be tragic, when the guy has the ability to be a possibly the best QB ever to play the game due to his ellusiveness. However, this will never happen if he's on a stretcher or out of football altogether. He's been knocked out of two games this year already... How many other starting QB's has this happened too? And how many because they are put in or putting themselves in harms way. RG as well as the scheme is endangering his longevity imho.
I get what you are saying, we have heard this over and over again all year. He is going to get hurt because we are putting him in danger by having him run the ball.

The thing is he could just as easily get hurt sitting back in the pocket waiting to get nailed. At least when he runs he can avoid hits.

Of course there will always be the risk of injury. Its football after all. Guys get hurt every Sunday. I've seen a lot of pocket passers get knocked out too. Its the nature of the beast. Quarterbacks are targets, especially when the defense has no answer but to hurt them.

I personally love the way we are utilizing RG3's strengths on offense, and I think it would be a shame to take that away from him for fear of injury.

What really bothers me is the way every team we play is head hunting him.

The press asked a Redskins executive about the salary cap penalty and the executive responded, "Ask John Mara." So the press asked Mara and he said, “What they did was in violation of the spirit of the salary cap. "

Oh I see now, even though there was no actual salary cap in 2010 according to the CBA, the "spirit" of the salary cap still existed. Thanks for clearing that up Mara.

Who did I insult? Personal insults get you a timeout here. I'm pretty damn careful not to personally insult anybody I address, generally. Got a two-day TO once for explicitly calling a troll an idiot once though, couldn't help myself.

With regards to RG III's injury, I think it's purely speculatively about the degree/extent of the injury. We all will find out more tomorrow after his MRI. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it's nothing too serious.

In the event, RG III is sidelined for a couple of weeks, Kirk Cousins is a capable backup.

There was nothing dirty on that play. The Ravens player made a clean hit/tackle.

I am apparently in the minority on this one, but I disagree. He was going to the ground and the defender was going for a kill shot. Maybe it wasn't illegal, but it was clearly unnecessary.

It would be hard to convince me that the Ravens were not trying to hurt him today, as has most every team we played this year.

If he is healthy, he should play. I don't think either upcoming road game will be easy.
"Washington strolled to the NFC championship, outscoring their two playoff opponents by a combined total of 48 points. Their domination was more than impressive, it was historic. The 1991 Redskins boasted the largest average margin of victory among all Super Bowl champions."

Agreed. We don't have a lot of room for error.

its media drivel, which goes into hyper-drive because media members expect QBs to play one way and one way only.

Most of the heavy hits RG3 took in today's game came inside the pocket. In fact all except the hit he got the knee injury, and that was more a freak moment than wild hit on his part.

RG3 should stay in the pocket more, no doubt, but the Redskins need a better OLine. Its the worst pass protection unit in the NFL. Why would anyone want RG3 to take a 5 step drop behind this line is well beyond me.

What was dirty about that? Wow.... He is a running back at that point. If you want him to be treated like a qb..he has to stay in the pocket. Thats the risk you are taking.

FYI great win...you guys are just resiient as hell.

Giants holding serve so far...long way to go.
