mycoolyounghistory, please post source
My bad, can't find the source I saw yesterday but Shanahan just announced it in his press conference. Here.
So its a grade one sprain and 'day to day'. I will take what Shanny says with a pinch of salt at this stage as he will want the Browns to prepare not knowing which QB will play. I expect to see RGIII as held out of practice until late in teh week, then limited and listed as questionable and a game time decision on the injury report. We will probably not know until warm ups who is going to be the QB as we keep Cleveland guessing.
Grade 1 sprain is a medical diagnosis and Shanny can't play games with that. The league could fine or penalize the Skins for misleading information. So we do know it is a mild sprain. Doesn't mean he will play against the Browns. But it does make it encouraging. Griffin will likely wear a brace and probably won't be running much on Sunday if he does play. The triple option is likely off the board for Kyle. More Alfred and more bubble screens are likely....
"That's not enough rings," Griffin said. "We've got to get more."
"Alright, Sammy," Griffin said. "I'll see you later."
Sounded like the news was as good as we could have hoped for. They have the best doctors around (Andrews was on the sidelines for crying out loud!!) and I gotta believe Shanny when he says RG won't play this Sunday if he isn't able to move around like he needs to. I think Shanny will try to keep this under wraps as long as possible. We will just hear that RG is progressing but "questionable" right till the end.
If we had already clinched a playoff spot or had no chance of making it I think it would be safe to say RG wouldn't play. With playoffs on the line, RG will play if he can.. if he isn't close enough to 100% to satisfy Shanny than they will take their chances with Cousins. Stating the obvious I know - but it helps me with my own healing process in this.![]()
Whether RGIII plays or not its going to be really interesting to see how Kyle adjusts his game plan with much less if any of the read option in the running game. It was also interesting how the Ravens adjusted in the second half to take away the play action pass on the deep cross. Obviously we want RGIII fully fit and using his legs as a weapon but if he is a little less mobile and needs to play in a more traditional offense Sunday it may actually be a good thing in opening up the passing game more and allowing RGIII to beat teams with his arm - which is he is very very capable of.
I still think we us the pistol a lot if RGIII plays Sunday but with more stretch running plays, limited roll outs of that stretch and a much more pocket based passing game. We probably need to be more agressive early with the passing game as well as the defense can be more agressive against our run game when they dont have to worry as much about RGIII as a threat in the run game.
