Thread: Andrew Luck is the next (insert name of one year wonder/moderately disappointing white QB)

This thread was not intended as hating on Luck, but rather exposing the narrow-minded racially infused comparisons foisted upon our guy. If nitwits can discount RG3's success by drawing unrelated parallels to Cam's rise and fall, it would be no less absurd to point to the initial success and subsequent collapse of a traditional pocket passer to Luck.

Because the media and some moronic fans (see StillSwinging on KFFL, also known as Scott Kacsmar) are making the claim that Luck is EASILY the OROY with absolute **** numbers in comparison to three rookies I identify..four.

    RG3
    RWilson

    Doug Martin

But let's be real. We switch numbers out and no one is even having the debate about who is OROY. Funny how almost any year numbers matter unless the difference is SMALL. But when it's a black QB who is rated #1 in the NFL with the highest YPA in the game, the longest TD run by a QB, whose offense is predicated on his abilities---then it's still about a debate, just because Johnny White Guy has a good team. Nevermind his horrific QB rating, completion pct and TD/turnover ratio.

You don't render racial insensitivity irrelevant by ignoring it or refusing to bring it up, you mock it, you satirize it, you hold it up and show people what a caricature it really is. You steal any malignant power it might have and turn it into the cartoon it should be.

If you look at what the primary job of the Quarterback Andrew luck is terrible at 2 key components. Completing passes, and protecting the football. Now he has been super clutch but its almost like Tebow in a sense. Bad QB play for 55 minutes. Game stays close for whatever reasons and Tebow cashes in late. This is essentially whats happening with Luck playing Tebow in a traditonal QB role.

The ESPN list for QBs is bogus. Do you really think Alex Smith is #2?
No, I'm talking NFL QB rating, not ESPN's QBR, bruh.

No, one is a great rookie, the other is a good rookie.

Griffin, Alfred, Doug Martin or Russell Wilson deserve OROY that's why. If Luck had RG3s numbers, no one would be saying anything.

    Tim Tebow.
Sean you were one hell of a safety and an even greater role model for young men like myself. You played my position with the same reckless abandone I play it with. More importantly, you WEREN'T perfect and you MADE mistakes, a lot like me, and you were growing and maturing into a man, a lot like what I'm trying to do. And the fact that you're gone now only motivates me more, as a safety and as a young man, to carry on your legacy.

Agreed. This is what I thought I was doing....I figured the closing comment about wh ite QBs who look like they're Indonesian don't win SBs would've been a clue as to this thread's sarcastic/satiric intentions, but.....

i dont think he will bust and i hope he succeeds...

on another note, when griffin went back in the game it seemed to me he ws running a more traditional offense and did well in it for a couple throws

Luck has been thoroughly mediocre. He's barely connecting on 50% of his passes, throws an interception for every touchdown, and his qb rating is 74.5.

Here is a small sampling of QBs who in their rookie years put up comparable numbers to Luck, in terms of completion percentage, TD:INT ratio, and QB rating:
    patrick ramsey
    jason campbell
    tony banks

I could go on. Look up your favorite bust QB who had any glimmer of modest success as a rookie, and his numbers will likely surpass Luck's in any criteria that isn't skewed by Luck's throwing 50 passes per game. Luck is essentially putting up the same numbers in those categories that Rex Grossman did last year.

Here is a list of QBs who have, in their rookie seasons, put up comparable numbers to RG3 by those same criteria:
    [null]

RG3 is essentially putting up the same numbers in those categories that Tom Brady put up last year. And the man is a rookie.

I agree, but he also gets all this love for being the #1 pick. Also, he went to a respected franchise. He would not be such a darling if he was in Oakland or Arizona.

Luck has 4 pick sixes this year and I think two safetys. Not good.

People keep saying throw out the stats, but you can't, you really can't.

Speaking of moderately disappointing white QBs. How awful was that last play by Joe Flacco in OT? Talk about complete lack of pocket presence.

RGIII causes the explosive run game. The line can't collapse like they can against any other team. Just watching Gruden breaking down the Giants DE's standing flat footed proves how much he effects all parts of the offense. Albert Morris had 15 carries for 110 yards against the Falcons when RGIII was in there. After he got hurt Morris had 3 carries for 8 yards. Keep in mind that the Skins had the lead when RGIII went out.[COLOR="Gold"]

Wow... Racism remains because stupid people hold on to it for dear life.

RGIII comes from a military family. I'm pretty sure he'd read this thread and call most of you stupid for considering race an issue here. Racism is a distant past within the military (and I'd argue most of the U.S.) except for those that cling to it and preach about it non-stop. Our President is Black, that's the highest position any person can reach within the United States, and he was VOTED there.. TWICE... But hey.. everyone is racist, right?

You may think I have no idea what I'm talking about, but we're getting to the point where the scales have tipped the opposite direction. NFL teams MUST interview a minority candidate for team positions. THAT is racist. Why can't it be the best person for the job? Why do people have to continue clinging to this stuff?

It will die when people let it die and stop teaching their children to hate. My kids play with all other kids and don't notice color, just another friend. Let's keep it that way.

(And for the record... The media hates the Redskins... so they hype up Luck. We all know Luck is never going to win RotY)
