it's pain and further damage they have to assess. We all know Dez will try to take the pain, the docs have to decide if there's risk of worse damage as a result. It's his index finger, not his pinkie as suggested previously, so it's pretty crucial to his future effectiveness.

I was watching NFL network the other day and Tory Holt was on as a guest panalist. Man, his middle finger literally goes at a 45 to 90 degree angle from the rest of his fingers cause of getting it jammed so many times from Warner and Co. pretty knarly actually. He said he wears it as a badge of honor and would never get it taken off. That is what Dez will have to live with if he doesn't get it fixed. Holt said he played 4 plus years with it that way.

Thats 11 starters/key components that weren't there on thanksgiving

The Skins had Carriker, Orakpo, Meriweather and maybe a handful of others. We're missing 7 starters on defense now.
Fair enough. It is certainly fair to say the Cowboys have had more than their share of injury problems this year, although I don't think its fair to diminish our own injury problems so much.

One of those "handful of others" you mention was our leading receiver when he went down, that would be Fred Davis. We've basically had to play half the season without our #1 wide-out (Garcon), over half the season without our #1 tight end (Davis), and almost the entire season without our best pass rusher (Orakpo) and our best safety (Merriweather). That would be like the Cowboys losing Dez, Witten, Ware for half the season or more, as well as having the same safety problems they have had.

And that is without mentioning our own "key components" who have been hurt/suspended (the aforementioned Carricker who is a key cog in our DL rotation being foremost among them, and he was also IR'd early in the season).

I imagine it would be fair to say both teams had significant injuries on Thanksgiving (which I believe was your original point here as well).

The press asked a Redskins executive about the salary cap penalty and the executive responded, "Ask John Mara." So the press asked Mara and he said, “What they did was in violation of the spirit of the salary cap. "

Oh I see now, even though there was no actual salary cap in 2010 according to the CBA, the "spirit" of the salary cap still existed. Thanks for clearing that up Mara.

Wouldn't taping his fingers make it harder to catch the ball either way? I don't wish injury on any players and called a ravens fan out yesterday for cheering with RG3 got injured and I would never do it no matter what team. Hope he heals fine and DeAngelo covers him well and doesn't punch him in the face again.

Yeah with all those underneath throws he was getting because we were in a soft zone after going up 28-6....I wouldn't be worried otherwise.

This thread is low brow. We're better than this--better than rejoicing in the injury of a talented young player--even if he is a cowboy.

You would be right except for that very last part. Doesn't that make you cringe a little bit uttering that last phrase?

says now that it is a fractured left index finger and not a torn ligament.

    First thing is first...

1- Dez Bryant is an athlete.

2- Dez Bryant is a headcase.

    3-He broke his finger.

4-You can nerve block a finger so you can't feel it.

    5-He's dumb enough to play.

Conclusion: Dez Bryant will play out the rest of the season until Dallas is out of the playoffs. He'll do it because they'll pin it, block the nerve so he can't feel it, then bandage it up. He'll be able to feel the rest of his fingers and hand just fine. Won't affect his play much. Since he's a Dallas Cowboy the media will make him a hero and a warrior and all his off-field issues and charachter will be history. Then, Dallas will lose and he will clock out for the rest of the season and say that he took the pain for the team and now needs surgery to repair the hand that was so broken that he couldn't perform.

Dez Bryant can't beat the Redskins. It takes a team effort to beat a good team. Dallas is a good team, but we already know what happened when they met on Thanksgiving in Dallas.

I hope it comes down to the last game of the season and every capable athlete on both rosters plays their best game and that the best team wins.

I look for Pittsburgh to take care of Dallas this upcoming week with or without Dez.

I'd have to agree with you there. Pittsburgh needs to win and they'll hand Dallas more than they can recover from. Also don't see the Giants getting past the Falcons. To top that off, looks like the Bears should drop one vs the Packers. It all could fall the Skins way by the end of the weekend. Skins win and they'll probably jump to the 4th seed in one week.

I think the Giants will win out. It's Chicago I think will fade.

    This i agree with.

The Bears are banged up and ageing, not a good combination.

Linguistically, the way people speak and write can be directly associated with where they were raised and to which dialect groups they belong (i.e. "ya'll" vs. "you-all" and your example above). While it can be grammatically incorrect in a professional setting, I hardly think one should be disparaged in a forum discussing sports.

If the Giants stay motivated I can see that, and if Cutler is out Chicago are toast.

I think it would have to be a "you'll never catch a ball again" risk in order for Bryant not to play with his fingers taped up, he's too much of a key player for them.
