The first one is the first play in the video. In the replay, you can clearly see his hands come out and the shove. The second is further down.
Totally agree on both points. Anyone that says that RG was sliding... it was like a headfirst slide into second base, not a QB slide where rules forbid hitting him. Heck there is now a rule forbidding hitting a defenseless player... Saw one of those called against us Sunday

I am not saying he isnt fair game when he is running. My issue is with headhunters which i have seen more then once. Pollard this week, rodgers-cromartie another. Both were blatant attempts to nail Griffin in his head. If they hit him legally, im all for it, but it was obvious attempts to injure. I have no problems with the way he got injured as it wasnt an attempt to hurt him, rather tackle a guy in the open field and it couldnt have been avoided.

I'm not saying Ngata did it on purpose, but it looks kind of weird the way Ngata turns sideways and throws his body into Griffin's leg. If he had just dove at him, he wouldn't have done nearly as much damage.

Sean you were one hell of a safety and an even greater role model for young men like myself. You played my position with the same reckless abandone I play it with. More importantly, you WEREN'T perfect and you MADE mistakes, a lot like me, and you were growing and maturing into a man, a lot like what I'm trying to do. And the fact that you're gone now only motivates me more, as a safety and as a young man, to carry on your legacy.

This is football. Ngata wanting to take a few licks? Not showing respect? He was doing his job. If it's legal then you tackle the guy. I don't give a rats ass if it's RG3 or some preseason scrub.

He needs to learn when to slide feet first. Most of the time, an extra yard is not worth the trade-off of a possible serious injury to him. He needs to think long term.

Ngata was called for roughing the passer, if he was trying to avoid tripping on his teammate he could have put his hands down to the ground to soften his landing and not blatantly in front of him to get to Robert. If you look at around 1:50 left in the 4th you can see Ngata was running real slow and fell with all his weight on Robert. Again, in my book something totally unecessary as Robert was already tackled by 99, that makes me think that Ngata had something going on with Robert.

What else is new? Haven't defenses been saying this all year? Every single one of them have said, "we need to hit him and hit him often."

I always liked the way Joe Theismann could slide. He mastered the slide. Bring him in to show Griff how to slide. At least the kid is better than Jason Campbell at sliding. Everytime I watched Campbell try to slide, I was like, WTF?

Defenses have no answer for him so they try to hurt him. It seems obvious to me that is what is happening.
The press asked a Redskins executive about the salary cap penalty and the executive responded, "Ask John Mara." So the press asked Mara and he said, “What they did was in violation of the spirit of the salary cap. "

Oh I see now, even though there was no actual salary cap in 2010 according to the CBA, the "spirit" of the salary cap still existed. Thanks for clearing that up Mara.

I agree. I posted a little later to clarify, but i was referring to attempts such as Pollards attempt and Rodgers-Cromartie. They are clearly going for headshots, leading with their helmet, and launching themselves.

Absolutely! Anyone who thinks there isn't a bounty on him is simply naive! The Giants, Eagles, Cowboys, Steelers, Ravens, Bengals, Falcons, Rams, all were going for dirty hits. If he plays against the Browns, they will most certainly try to get a dirty play on him especially since they have nothing to lose. You think these players give two craps about a 10, 20, or even 50K dollar fine? Hell, their organization will probably reimburse them for it if they get the kill shot.

Which makes drafting a COMPETENT RT very important this offseason. We need to do a better overall job of protecting him so he doesn't have to run out of the pocket as often. If anyone saw the Patriots against JJ Watt and the Texans last night, they will know what I'm talking about.

I'm describing the mentality that is going to get anyone hurt, and pointing out that it has nothing to do with sliding or not sliding. I had less of a problem with Ngata's hit than Pollard's attempted kill shot and a few below-the-knees hits in general.

If you can't see that teams are targeting him beyond just "trying to get a nice, solid hit" on him that's between you and your God.

You will give the Redskins an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun. In time you will help them accomplish wonders.

Well when he gets a coach just to help him pad his stats, people are going to try and hit him!

Oh, and BTW, if someone pulls a Chris Samuels on Antonio Garay (Chicago 2007, totally out of character for Chris but maybe done for a reason?) then they should not be worried. It's football.

My point is this, if the refs won't protect Griffin below the knees in the pocket or his head/neck (the first sack vs. Dallas was a neck/head tackle, it wasn't intentionally dirty maybe(?) but it was illegal) then the team is going to have to do so. If the league won't protect your future, then you need to go out and do it yourself. Once a few guys get carted the **** off the field (hopefully with just sprains) they might be less likely to take that risk.

    Conspiracy Theorists lol...

An QB that dares venture out of the pocket makes the D's eyes light up. Whether it is RGIII or Tom Brady when London Fletcher was ready to blow his pretty face off last season.

As far as the headhunting goes? There are A LOT of players that have terrible technique which results in leading with the head and ends with suspensions and concussions on both sides.

That is a league problem more than an RGIII problem...but of course, I am sure most fans would prefer RGIII to be frozen in carbonite and on display in the gift shop where he'll be quite protected from injury...if he survives the freezing process that is
