My friend and I have been getting some (limited) blow back after DeAngelo Hall tossed us his helmet and a few blogs picked up the story. For a couple of years, we've been getting dressed up and head out to games. We're big fans and just love to get silly and cheer for our team. This year, I moved up next to the tunnel and we've been getting a lot more attention.
No one has said anything to us about the costumes until Sarah Kogod wrote this piece recently in the Washington Post online blog. And to be clear, all other blogs and reports on the story have been positive and in a good light. Even Ms. Kogod's piece isn't that terribly bad.
I just wanted to clear some things up. We're not making a statement when we get all painted up and head into the stadium. We're not intending to denigrate Native Americans, and our intentions lie solely in cheering for our team while looking as silly as we can. We think it's fun.
Spot Check: Do you think it's inappropriate?
