Thread: Thom Loverro on ESPN 980: Start Rex if RG3 Can't Go

No way you start Rex. Although that would be one of the NFLs better con jobs of late

Nobody would see that coming, for sure. In the end, the best thing for the organization would be to showcase Cousins so you can trade him for a high drat pick. Recoup some of the RG3 cost so you can rebuild your secondary in April. Free Agency is going to be lean yet again so the team is going to have to make due with what it has for the next couple years and Cousins is the teams TOP trade bait potential. Sure you focus on this year, but you also must think forward and his current perceived value is starting to rise.

He was a winner at MSU, you definitely give Cousins the ball and let's see what the kid can do.

Rex should never ever be allowed to suit up in our colors . Should not be allowed to step a foot on any field representing our colors.. Just let the man continue to walk around clipboard and pen in hand. Never again. If so I will be physically nauseous and I haven't felt that way since most of last season. Let the past stay in the damn past.

I don't think it's a bad idea if you're only concerned with winning the game. Rex has experience and wasn't that bad last season. He had a QBR of 43.9 which indicates he's was a little below average last season which would go along with how I feel about him. With that being said I still think Cousins will give us the better chance to win. The Browns would have more stuff to gameplan on against Grossman than against Cousins. Another implication to consider here is the trade value of Kirk Cousins going forward. Let's say he has a fantastic game, it certainly would increase his value in the future if someone wants to trade for him. If I was the GM I would certainly be open to trading a 2nd round pick or higher for Cousins considering our lack of draft picks over the next couple of seasons.

I'll be honest, you and Thom need to let the RG dream go, he is never going to start again.

Griffin said that he was going to watch the game with his family and that he will never attend a Super Bowl if he needs a ticket to get in.

This. I can't count the times I hear Thom say, "You heard it from me first..." followed by something that never comes true. Most recent one I can remember? Him saying there's no way that the Yankees would make the playoffs last year.

Uhhhh...I get upset when I see Rexy talking to RG3 during a game...I don't want him to infect Robert with his mediocrity

OMG.....for some reason that ended up being the funniest thing i have read all night.

Glad I am not the only one who is irritated with his voice. Today I honestly thought he had a chicken wing stuck in his throat because he mentioned he was eating them as KFC had brought lunch.

And to hear him refer to someone else as "doughy" --- that was interesting to say the least.

If Rex had at least dressed and gotten in a game this year, Id be ok with it. But he hasnt seen the field at all.

I'm glad the Sex Cannon is on our team. It's not like he was a Pro Bowl player that regressed when he was here, he played the same as he always has. It's not his fault that he was forced into a starting role last year, and I'm proud of how hard he played. It was a shame that he got booed in preseason, and after that he threw two TDs. Good on him.

Robert will most likely start, but if Cousins does go...who wouldn't want to see Rexy come in and get some mop up minutes in the fourth quarter if we had a huge lead? I know I would. Unleash Sexy Rexy. He's the only guy on our team who is capable of dialing it up to infinity while on his back!

I could see it. Rex has the experience and the arm.

I would go with Cousins after what he did last week, but I don't think it is so crazy to think we should go with Rex.

I think Griffin will start anyway, so this should not be a question. I would certainly consider dressing all three QBs for this game though.
The press asked a Redskins executive about the salary cap penalty and the executive responded, "Ask John Mara." So the press asked Mara and he said, “What they did was in violation of the spirit of the salary cap. "

Oh I see now, even though there was no actual salary cap in 2010 according to the CBA, the "spirit" of the salary cap still existed. Thanks for clearing that up Mara.

I just don't think Rex has been getting the reps necessary to actually play this weekend. I don't even mean this week. I mean for the entire season
