Redskins WP: Cowboys fan willing to burn his gear and become a Redskins fan ( RG3 fever)

When Robert Griffin III was asked about LeBron James at Tuesday’s Wizards game, he expressed interest in making him a Redskins fan.
“He is a big Cowboys fan,” RGIII said. “But hopefully we can convert him.”

It raised the question of whether or not Redskins fans would welcome former Cowboys supporters to the bandwagon that is quickly growing, thanks to a very special rookie quarterback. Holden and Danny addressed the issue on their show on 106.7 The Fan yesterday, and at least one Cowboys fan submitted his application to join the crowd.

“I’m calling in fact because, look, I’m willing to burn my Cowboys gear in front of you guys to get on board with RGIII,” said the caller, identified as Russell from Upper Marlboro. “I mean, look. Darrell Green couldn’t get me to come over there. Brian Mitchell couldn’t get me to come to the Redskins. RGIII has got me, hook, line, and sinker. Dudes, I’m ready to join the band. I’m ready.”

I graciously appreciate the sentiments. But, we don't need any Cowboy fans on our bandwagon..... SCRAM!!

I think I can safely say, that any "Cowboys fan" that would do that...was never really a Cowboys fan to begin with. However, this should come as no surprise to anyone. I don't know any other team, that has more "national" fans that can't even name one player on "their" team besides Tony Romo.

It speaks much volume to what Robert Griffin III has brought to this city. We must except the fact that we are the most exciting team in the NFL now. Everyone wants to see our team and RG3 play, no playoff seed wants us in because they know we can go to the show once we are in, and everyone of us must face the fact that there is something called a band wagon and the world is starting to jump on ours.

I think its great! Burn your gear Dallas fans and come to the light and cheer for the Beast of the East with the best fans in all of sports! Redskins Nation is #1. As long as cowboy paraphernalia is burned, thats all that matters to me!

I've recently learned how different most Cowboy fans we know (the NBD variety) are from Cowboy fans that are actually from Dallas. I've been traveling there for work alot recently and listen to the sports radio stations there quite a bit. The actual Cowboy fans from Dallas talk intelligently (and realistically) about their team and other teams in their division. There's actually a ton of excitement about RG3 there and a "what will he do this week?" sort of attitude about the guy (the fact that he spent his college career in their backyards helps). I guess this is generally consistent with what I hear you guys saying about your experiences watching the Redskins play there.

The guy in this article doesn't seem like Cowboys fan, but moreso an attention seeker. Now that nobody's paying attention to his Cowboy's gear he's looking for the next thing to grab that attention.

No, no, no. Any douchebag who made our lives a living hell will do their part and stay down for the next decade of punishment by our hands.

Dallas is Alderaan, and RG3's got the keys to the Death Star.

And fans like that are exactly why people hate the Cowboys.

If they didn't like us when we had slugs like Campbell, Beck, Wuerffel, etc. quarterbacking our team then we don't need them now that RG3 is here.

Anyone that can change teams is not much of a fan.
