a little surprised not a thread just for Obama's speech in newtown right now...not that it needed its own thread

His words are empty. He helps send other peoples children to other countries to potentially kill or be killed. Why should it matter what this man says on such a sensitive subject?

I think I speak for most when I say you can just keep such opinions to yourself in the future.

Why? People constantly talk politics here. It makes up a lot of the Tailgate. What's wrong with my input?

Because this really isn't a subject where politics should enter the equation. It's called respect. I'm done with this conversation- please do not bother responding.

Obama sends 6-7 year olds to other countries to be killed?

Do you read what you write before you hit submit?

Don't know why you'd think your sentiments have ANYTHING to do with my comment. Oh wait, yes I do, professionally speaking.

Obama is a politician. It's kind of hard to avoid talking about politics when he is mentioned in a conversation.

Well, you brought him up. I'll bow out of this thread and give further input if a thread is made.

While I don't care for Obama the President, I respect Obama the man tremendously. He's always been a compassionate individual and gave a tremendous speech in a time when the country is truly reeling. This is the absolute wrong time to bring up what you chose to bring up, peoples babies have died, let's not lose sight of what has happened to discuss politics.

Deadspin has an article showing all the ridiculous posts people made about Obama's speech bumping the coverage of the NBC game.

I can't even post it due to the title but some people are incredibly stupid/hateful. Unbelievable (not really, I guess)

So what should be obvious still eludes you? You think because "I brought him up", that this a solid response regarding your post, given the context of what I actually typed?

Let me walk you through it. I made no comment on anything other than being a bit surprised there wasn't a thread as there often would be for such.

You replied with some implied "answer" that it was because his "words aren't important" (which, seriously, is really why you think there's was no thread---because that's the response you're giving--mine would have been more like "eh, not this time, but who knows" or "everyone's watching the SF/Pat game" etc. lol) and also asking "why it should matter" (what the POTUS says and plans to do---really?).

But I didn't touch upon anything regarding actual positions or content.

And there is nothing in what you said that would call for you to bow out. I was just noting how your reply wasn't really connected to what I said (you used it a platform which is no issue rules-wise at all, I just was "what?") and you also offered it as an "answer" ( a weird one) as to why there was no thread.

We often have a thread on any speech on any matter he (or Bush back in the day) gives.

I am just spotlighting how odd people's cognition works at time (even as again in this post, where you suggest "bowing out" is somehow fitting).

    I just notice these things.
