Default What Do You Think About the Chippiness/Taunting/****-Talking?

Happens every game now. This week Garcon got hit with a 15 yard penalty and I thought all hell was going to break loose after the Moss fumble that Garcon recovered. Garcon has been great since his return, not sure I am a fan of his spinning the ball and pointing at it after 10 yard gains at midfield.

Last week with the Ravens there was a considerable amount of extra-curriculars.

Obviously Josh Morgan cost us a game taunting an opponent earlier in the year.

The Skins lead the league in Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalties, with 5. Only 6 other teams have more than 2.

On the one hand, I love that this team isn't taking **** from anyone, teams growing from bad to good need to have that attitude. On the other hand, there is no need to taunt, and getting hit with 15 yard penalties is pretty dumb. Im surprised that a team whose leaders are RGIII and London Fletcher would regularly have these episodes.

So, Im on the fence on this one, just seeing what everyone else thinks.

In the case of the one today, I felt like THEIR guy was the one who should have been flagged. Was it Jackson? Can't remember. Also noticed he was giving extra shoves after the play the whole game, similar to what was going on in that Rams game when Morgan snapped, baby cheap shots - not enough for the refs to notice but enough to piss our guys off and trigger an incident (that the refs DO notice).

Hmm. I thought today Garcon deserved it, although the guy did shove him afterwards, so that could have been offsetting penalties. Against the Rams it was Cortland Finnegan, who is probably the NFL's king of doing that kind of ****. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-71mGtFQVSw

It looked to me as if Garcon was trying to draw the other guy into a personal foul but failed and got it on himself.
A bad plan well executed may work. A good plan badly executed will always fail.

Alexander was playing with a lit fire in his belly. I thought he was going to get hit with an USLC penalty or two. I love the passion, but I don't like that the Skins are basically Oakland East at this point. The Skins veteran skill position players can't continue to put their rookies in that situation, no matter how good their are.

    Total BS penalty.
It shouldn't be on its own (Moss does it a lot, typically as a TD celebration), but he was also jawing as the ball spun...maybe the refs took exception. On the other hand, Garcon seems to jaw after every play in which he's involved. It's never his fault that he did catch the ball (I.e. pass interference), or if he does, he has something to say to the counterpart covering him.

I'm fine with the attitude and not taking crap, having confidence and showing you won't back down and also having swagger so long as their play backs it up. But when it leads to a foolish act like what Morgan did vs. the Rams that crosses the line (though Morgan was being aggravated). Garcon's penalty was pretty ticky-tacky IMO.

I'm fine with it. Just as long as it doesn't cost the team. Kinda reminds me of '04, when we had guys like Smoot, Taylor, Pierce, etc talking ****. Even Griffin does a little jawing every now and then. Just don't throw footballs at dudes and I'm cool with it.

The Garcon penalty was just horrible...not taunting at all

I appreciate their passion, and appreciate it even when they are penalized for it.

They're not doing it maliciously or just being TOish, they're doing it because they're jelling together as a team that wants to win.

So while it stings when they ARE penalized for it, I take the good with the bad. Because overall, they're doing really really good, and its a great time to be a fan of the Washington Redskins.

Quite the opposite actually. Also Cousins took two blows to the head while in the pocket that did not get called. It is hard to imagine that the Ref's have it out for the Redskins or is it?
    RIP 21

Griffin said that he was going to watch the game with his family and that he will never attend a Super Bowl if he needs a ticket to get in.

I counted 4 late hits that weren't called. Completely ridiculous.

    I found this yesterday LOL:

Wide receiver Pierre Garcon, a Mount Union product who signed with the Redskins in the offseason after the Browns targeted him in free agency, had a team-high six catches and also recovered a fumble late in the game that could have given the Browns a chance to come back. He also trash talked with a couple of members of the Browns’ defense, particularly cornerback Joe Haden and linebacker D’Qwell Jackson.

“[Garcon] talks too much,” Jackson said. “It’s like, ‘Who are you talking to?’ I’m too old. Hey, I used to do it when I was young. … You just always hear him. He’s fiery, I get it. But I’m not that guy. … I don’t have time for that. Line up at running back, then you can talk to me.”

Haden downplayed the trash talking, which included a 15-yard taunting penalty on Garcon.

“I wasn’t really worried about Garcon,” Haden said. “I mean, I did my thing against him. … But Garcon is a really good receiver and I don’t want to take anything away from him.”

Garcon finished with 65 receiving yards.

“It was just football,” Garcon told reporters after the game. “Those guys [Jackson and Haden] love playing football. They’re passionate about it. They’re the cornerstones of the defense, so they have to bring their emotion. I have to bring my emotions.”

They actually do. I've been noticing in all of the games since our winning streak they have been shafting us on the calls. A few examples...(Dallas game) Romo knee CLEARLY on the ground, but yet after review they gave him the two point conversion anyway. Then the late hit RGIII took when running out of bounds, the ref threw a flag, but picked it back up and didn't even give an explanation? As you've said already in the Browns game but failed to mention the review on the Garcon catch???????? WTF they said that he didn't catch it and the ball hit the ground? There was many more bad calls in the favor of the brown in that game that wasn't called also. Hell, I thought it was the NFL agenda to get RGIII hurt because he consistantly takes cheap shots, spearing head shots on a regular without any yellow being drawn, but after witnessing the Mike Tyson like blows that Kurt was taking It must just be a Redskin QB thing WTH? Mike has made this team a legit contender. People do you even realize that we are missing good ,good, players like FD83,Helu jr.,Jackson,Meriweather,ect. Also, we have been winning games even with all of the bad/no calls by the officials. We are a good team. SMH, imagine what we will look like when FD83 and helu are in thos offense wow. Oh yeah, Jim Hasslett has to be fired for us to be considered a legit contender. I still don't like him as the D coordinator. Fire Jim,and Mike keeps finding gems in the draft we will have us a contednding team next season. #HTTR
