OP updated to reflect Week 19
I suppose if we lost to the Cowboys at home, I would have trouble feeling excited about the Seahawks or 49ers on the road. So, I might just rather wait till next season. However this plays out, I think we can agree it's been a successful season, based on what we expected preseason. Any additional success we acheive is playing with house money.

Let's go Pack, let's go Lions. I like our chances in both those games. Much like the next guy, I obviously prefer to just take it to Dallas and win our first division championship in 13 years, but from where I stand, for a team like the Skins one spot in the playoffs is just as good as the next.
HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!!!
Detroit can be a dangerous team. They can put up points in bunches!!
Can someone explain to me how we won't win the nfc east if we lose next week? We would both finish 9 - 7, but don't we have the tiebreaker?

OK, at this point how we can get into the playoffs is very simple. We will know by kickoff of our game if we have clinched a playoff spot or not. I really think GB will win in Minnesota, although that is far from a lock. The key game is Chicago losing in Detroit... Gotta lean Bears but I give the Lions a much better chance to win than most will.
So now that the scenerios are simple, we can peak ahead and look at our opponent possibilities if we make it.
It's also pretty simple...
If we win the division, we are playing Seattle in DC
If we win the wild card, we are playing at SF
This assumes that SF wins at home this week vs Arizona
If somehow the Cards win then it opens up some other possibilities like playing SF in DC or playing at Seattle.
But I am very comfortable assuming SF beats Arizona. And if that happens we'd be locked in to either at home vs Seahawks or on the road at SF.
I have to say, this is the happiest 6 weeks I've had as a fan since 1991. And hosting those damned Cowboys for the division... priceless.
I'm thinking the Vikings will go down to the Packers, I'm kind of confident that the Lions will not lay down for the Bears, and give them a fight. I am a nervous individual, so I'd like to have the added comfort that win or lose, the Skins will be in the playoffs. Of course, I want to squelch the Cowboys on national TV. That is a dream ending. Especially seeing the giants step on their wangs 2 weeks in a row.
I wasn't totally aware of the 1982 NFC Championship (I was young). I want to hear the Chant, and see the crowd going absolutely ape-****. I think our 'Skins will feed off of that, and emotion will blow the Cowboys completely out of the stadium. That's my hope anyway. I also fear Romo a little like I used to fear Aikman, or how my father used to fear and loathe Staubach. And Dez... my Lord he's blossomed. It'll be tough to stop their offense.
Bottom line, I want the DC area to host a playoff game. As do all Redskins fans. HTTR!
