If:
1. The Giants beat Philly
2. The Lions beat the Bears
3. The Packers beat the Vikings
4. We beat Dallas
Giants can still get in.

I sincerely hope that 1, 2 and 3 don't happen, because even if it means we get in even with a loss, I'd hate to be playing for the Giants right to get into the playoffs.
Also, I sort of hope it's really for all the marbles, I don't really want the consolation prize of a wild card spot.

Can somebody PLEASE explain to me why if we lose to the Cowboys they win the NFC East? And I'm sorry if this has already been answered, if it has just point me to the post number.
If we lose:
Redskins 9-7
Cowboys 9-7
Division record:
Redskins 4-2
Cowboys 4-2
Games against each other:
Redskins 1-1
Cowboys 1-1
Conference record:
Redskins 7-5
Cowboys 6-6
Does it go to non-conference games? I don't get it...
You're kidding right? You wouldn't want the safety of a wild card in your back pocket just in case? That's madness. You do realize that the last two Super Bowl winners were wild cards right?? Don't worry the team isn't going to take it easy if it happens...they want the NFC East title regardless, but a safety net is ALWAYS a good thing. As far as helping the Giants in, I don't mind cause they'd be playing us in the first round at home and I personally think they BLOW. They CAN play well at times, but they're just lost at this point. That being said I didn't say I wanted 1 to happen....just 2 and 3.

It's really humorous that the Giants future this season is tied to us. Oh the irony

Common games comes before division record in the divisional tiebreaker hierarchy. Both teams beat the Giants, Bucs, Browns, and swept the Eagles; both teams lost to the Giants and Falcons; Those games cancel each other out. We beat the Ravens and Saints, who the Cowboys lost to; but the Cowboys beat Panthers, Bengals and Steelers, who each beat us. In the event of a three way tie, the Giants get eliminated before we get to this step because their division record would be only 3-3.
Also, an easy way to figure out this step, if two teams are tied. The better record in common games is the same as worse record in uncommon games, and within a division there's only two. The Redskins played the Rams and Vikings and split those two games. The Cowboys played the Seahawks and Bears and lost them both. The Cowboys had the worse record in uncommon games, so they win that tiebreaker.
