Shutup Mike. Tarkenton was running before you were even born.

It's unfortunate because I think Vick could have had a much better career than he did. It's odd that the guy comes out of prison and has his best season a year later so far in his career. Just think if he applied that new outlook and focus to the game as rookie coming in.

The glaring difference between them to me is their mindset. RGIII is a guy that clearly works to be the best he can, while Vick spent so long with the "I'm already the ****"-mentality.
RGIII is faster than Vick in terms of straight-line speed but as far as lateral agility and elusiveness, Vick is easily the most elusive QB ever. Then you have guys like Young and Newton, RGIII and Kordell Stewart. And of course Scramble Randall.

That was never Young or Cunningham really.
Kordell Stewart was running for 80 yard TD's before Vick was even at VTech.

I wouldnt go that far, RG3 is a better passer than Vick ever was. Vick didnt have the ability to throw the best touch passes like RG3 does.

But yea, Vick really isnt that off with this statement. Unfortunately many on here just have visceral reactions and dont want to think these statements out all the way.

RGIII is a passer first. Vick is a runner first. He'd rather the pocket collapse so he can scramble for 12.

comon people, admit it. Admit that Vick is the Jesus of mobile black QB's. RG3 is his lowly disciple. You may touch Vick's brow if your lucky. Praise be the Vick

Well yea, but the point I am making, and I think Vick, is that that was the first time in the modern NFL that an offensive coordinator created an offense based around the QB's running ability. Thats what RG3 is doing in DC, and there are a lot of designed run plays for him here also.

But RG3 is a better passer. Cam is a better passer too, and they also do similar in Carolina. Kapernick and Russell Wilson (altho Wilson is more of a Steve Young/Randall Cunningham like scrambler, thats what he learned at NC State).

Yes, and who else could lose a 100 million dollars worth of endorsement and still walk on water with the media?

Yeah but he had that whole slash thing going on and was a WR and returner too so I don't think it was ever looked at the same way as Vick. When Vick came in he was drafted as and remained a full time QB starter only with no oyher positions and had success early.

and a lot more accurate with better pocket presence.

I'm not gonna hate too much on Vick's talent though. Dude was the most exciting player in the NFL while he was in Atlanta, by far. I got to see a lot of him and he was deadly.
Eli Manning will be 31 years old when the 2012 season starts.

Griffin has shattered beliefs about what an NFL team can do under center. There's no path for where he's going. It's not Vick's path, that's for certain. RG3 will cut his own.
This was a great statement by the writer.

Vick apparently has forgotten that the NFL existed before his emergence into the NFL. This is by & large one of the most arrogant statements I've read from anyone in a very long time. If he actually believes what he said, he's very ignorant & it explains a lot more about his football intelligence.

Vick is in no way the originator of such a style. When he came into the League, he was just the latest in a long line of QBs that were running QBs. Vick didn't originate anything in this League.

EDIT: Further, there have been countless QBs that have come into this League since it's inception that were scrambling or running QBs that the offense was built around. And, like many of those QBs, they were on teams & in situations where the FOs either didn't have the money (pre salary cap days) or simply didn't spend the money on great supporting casts around these QBs. But many teams have had running QBs & catered the offense around their style. It started way before Vick was even a twinkle in his father's eye.

You realize I have other posts in here stating why VIck has a point? Why did you gloss over that to respond to this one that is so vague?

There were scarmbling QBs in the NFL before Vick, but he was the first one that had coaches design an offense around his running ability because it was so much faster than everyone on the field. Its what the Shannahans are doing with RG3.

That's not what Vick said though. He said RGIII's personal playing style is based off his, which is not true at all. An offensive scheme is one thing but RGIII is not a Vick-style QB.

Methinks there were running quarterbacks in the NFL long before Vick.
