Laron Landry is a pro bowl starter. That's such a horrendous choice in my opinion.
If Roy Williams can make 8 Pro Bowls despite getting roasted in coverage repeatedly, LaRon Landry and his roids can make a Pro Bowl.

And here I was thinking that his over-inflated ego couldn't get any bigger...
OLB Coach for the 3x State Champs: 2001, 2002, 2008 Atlantic Shores Seahawks2012 Final Record: 2-9
I wouldn't have let him go in the first place but it looks like Meriweather was a comparable player before he got hurt. I doubt LL would come back.
Jim Haslett is a horrible coach.
Id much rather draft a safety with our 2nd pick, and hope Meriweather and Jackson come back ready to go next year as well.

The best part about this thread is everyone talking about his PFF ranking. You guys all realize he had a pretty darn good PFF rating when he played for us, right? I mean, on the 30 page long threads I would always bring it up, but know one cared that PFF loved the guy, because you guys hated him and he "flexed" and stuff. You guys are crazy.
You guys all like London, right? Well PFF doesn't feel the same as you.
Also, I saw someone on this thread say he was a "Me first player" ARE YOU CRAZY? Does a Me First Player play through a broken wrist for half a season? Or one of the most painful injuries a player can indure? (An achilles). People who say things without facts to back it up kill me.
PS) We have gone on a 6 game win streak, our secondary has still been terrible. The past 5 games, Landry's PFF ranking is a +9.. Thats absurd. ABSURD.
The King stay the King.
you are half right. landry graded out well vs the run, but poorly vs the pass.
In Landry’s past three seasons, he has graded negatively in pass coverage while allowing opposing quarterback ratings of 109.0, 106.1 and 139.8(!). Ouch. If General Manager Mike Tannenbaum knows what he’s doing, he isn’t done searching for safety help this offseason.
LaRon Landry, New York Jets
The oft-injured sixth overall pick from 2007 has been a solid performer when he’s been on the field, logging a +14.5 cumulative grade from 2008-2011, which would have been much higher if not for a poor -9.7 grade in 2009. However, he missed 15 games combined in 2010-2011. That has been followed up with a well below average -6.8 grade for this year as he has struggled to regain his form after an Achilles injury sent him to the IR last season. After getting a one year ‘show-me’ deal from the Jets, Landry was obviously looking to put in a good year and cash in during the offseason. Unfortunately, it’s beginning to look like he might have to take another small contract and prove himself further.
actually, nlc posted this on the first page. yikes.:
You guys do realize that Pro Football Focus actually rates LaRon as worse than ANY of the safeties we have, right?
That's right; LaRon grades out as a worse safety than Madieu Williams.

We should have resigned him

Umm.. LaRon is ranked higher than our safeties. Look earlier in the thread. He is like 10 above Williams, and Doughty.
Via Big Mike: After 16 weeks PFF has Landry ranked (out of all NFL safeties):
"55 overall (34 in coverage, 58 against the rush, and 22 as a rusher himself, and 83 in bad penalties against him)
By comparison:
Madieu Williams is 65 overall (50 in coverage, 64 against the rush, and 20 as a rusher himself, and 69 in bad penalties against him)
DeJon Gomes is 69 overall (32 in coverage, 70 against the rush, and 78 as a rusher himself, and 72 in bad penalties against him)
Reed Doughty is 71 overall (65 in coverage, 65 against the rush, and 30 as a rusher himself, and 48 in bad penalties against him)
So yeah I guess he would be a slight upgrade on what we are running out there now. However his past with us, attitude, injuries, and contract demands tell me we should not bring him back."
But still, I'm pretty sure he's caused 5 Turnovers this year. It's not like he would have hurt the secondary. He would have helped, regardless of his rank. He has played much better this year than his rank, I promise. Waaaay better than Reed and Madieu. That's not up for debate regardless of PFF. And if you would rather have Reed, there is something wrong with you.
SportingParagon gave a statistic about Landry earlier this year, when he was on the field for Washington last year, the D was much better. When Reed or Gomes were playing, we gave up almost 80 more yards and at least a couple of points.

The King stay the King.
Loved him here as a safety, was one of my favorite players.
But after having to hear his total meltdown on twitter and bashing our team, he can stay the **** in new york with the rest of the trash.

I feel like people often forget that the last year both Landry and Rogers were on this team, we had one of the worst defenses in the league.
Good riddance to both.
