Solid advice. Emails are for trying to avoid confrontation and can easily be ignored, pushed aside or put on low priority. Impossible to ignore a tenant standing in the leasing office with bites all over the left side of their body. Not good for potential business either. I'd so go to the office and act under control, but firm. You are in the right here and shouldn't have to live in your apartment until the problem is resolved.

Had a bed bug problem in my parents about a year ago. Pretty sure they hitch-hiked down from when the family was in PA for one night. If at all possible, don't put off finding an exterminator. My pops made that mistake and tried to get rid of them himself. Its just impossible, because by the time you've discovered them...they are everywhere. I forget who it is he called...but they did it relatively quickly, under 700 bucks If i remember right...and gave a 6 month warranty. Its funny, even after I washed most my clothing after the fumigation I was putting on a dress shirt one day and two little bed bugs fell outta them dead. Creeped the hell outta me.

    Fumigation is useless.

Intense heat is what's used to to kill bed bugs. And by intense heat, I mean around the 1500 degree mark. Typically takes about four visits & runs on average about $1500 a treatment.

Heat is used in some cases, but not the only approach. We normally only used it when the company's owner came back from a trip overseas.

When we did bed bug treats, usually in hotels, we would use a cryo tank (co2 at freezing mark) followed by a crack and crevice treatment using a residual, especially in hot spots such as headboards. We would do the same in adjoint rooms (or whole home, etc) with a follow up a week later. Rarely were more than 2 treatments necessary unless the customer did something stupid like follow behind us with an OTC product like hot shot.

The main things are to get it treated quickly, make sure the pco does a good job (we usually took 4 hours for a hotel room, hence cost), and that the pco does followups to confirm treatment success due to some strains becoming resistant to common pesticides
