Thread: Air Hockey Tables - Where to Buy/Anyone Own One?

Default Air Hockey Tables - Where to Buy/Anyone Own One?

Ok, so I want to buy an air hockey table. My daughter is almost 5 and she loves to play it, she's actually pretty good for her age lol. Anyhow, more than likely, it will have to be put in my garage, which is not insulated, no dry wall, etc.

Anyone know of any good/decent tables that would work out in a garage? I dont want to buy anything then have humidity or mildew ruin it. I know its not a pool table where mildew/moisture might ruin the surface, but wood swells/shrinks depending on the temp and will bow up. I just want to make sure if I buy one, Im buying the right one.

Any help is appreciated. I love air hockey, so does my daughter, just want to buy a table and have fun playing with her.

Craigslist.com, I bought a regulation size one, with electronic score keeper and everything for $50 from Craigslist a few years ago. It went great in my old Redskins room, the thing was in perfect this family was getting rid of it because their kids never really used it and were headed to college soon anyway. So I'd say start there.

Just recently bought a full size poker/blackjack table with felt it solid condition for like $70. As long as you have a critical eye, and can filter through the occasional bull**** you can find some great deals there.

Yes, this is exactly the kind of thing that people under use and one day will put out on the kerb or give away. You should get very good deals on Craigslist if you are patient.

Honestly, Check Target, Kmart, Walmart, etc...sometimes you can catch these types of items on clearance. I was able to snap a full sized ping pong table for like $35 at Target. Especially, since it's after christmas, you may be able to snag a cheap open box or clearance item.

Also agree that Craigslist is a good option, but be careful on who you deal with.

I have had an air hockey table for a long time and they are a ton of fun. Just be careful on where you place the thing. As players get older and stronger, the puck tends to "fly" off the table and it will make marks on any walls.

Haha, what? EDIT: Apparently that's a British spelling variant. Is that where "behind the fridge" is?

I searched on Craigslist for you and found one for $80. Go get it, tiger. But I get first game.

Yeah, I'm an immigrant from those parts.

    You learned something today.

And as a tangent, Behind the Fridge is a British comedy show with Peter Cooke & Dudley Moore (before Arthur and all that). It's even older than I am.

One of my friends growing up had an air hockey and a skeeball game in their basement. Needless to say we were over there as much as humanly possible.

**They also had one of those basketball shooting games.

    Seriously, her parents were awesome.
