Shanahan Decision Not to Take Out RGIII

If Shanahan benches Griffin against his will in our biggest game of the season, he's answering questions right now about losing confidence in his rookie QB. People would be accusing him of undermining this bright, young leader and wondering what it might do to his confidence going into year 2.

The second Griffin told Shanahan that he wanted to stay in the game, Mike was in a very tough spot. In some ways it might be better long term that Shanahan stuck with Griffin and stood behind him after this magical season.

If RG3 didn't get re-injured, and was able to tough it out and got the win, NO ONE would be questioning Shanahan's actions today.

Yall act like it's so easy. Your star player, in the playoffs, tell me that's an easy decision. Tell me Shannahan doesn't get the other kind of blame if he DOES put Cousins in and he throws a couple picks. "you have to let your stars play in the playoffs no matter what Mike", or something like that.

The man knows how to use personnel. The judging of our coach is ridiculous. "OHH OHH , HE SAID HIS REPUTATION IS ON JOHN BECK" "OHH OHH, HE SAID HE GAVE UP ON THE SEASON" "OHH OHH HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT RG3'S HEALTH"

He says a lot of things, and he doesn't care how you interpret it, he knows what he's doing.

Our QB broke, and we weren't likely to win in that situation. That's it.

Sigh.....it was 14-13 going into the 4th quarter. Morris had only 5 carries in the second half...seriously, FIVE.. Cousins has proven that he's more than serviceable; basically winning two games to get us in the playoffs to begin with. This could have gone so much better for the Redskins had RGIII went to the sidelines; or it could have completely imploded with Cousins....who knows. What we do know is it did implode with our hobbled leader out there. I'll never question RGIII's heart, but it isn't out-of-bounds to question Shanny's/RGIII's brain. Oh well.

Hail.....we'll be back stronger and SMARTER next year.

Also, it is not hindsight. You can say it 100 times and it still wouldn't be true. People were almost all calling for the change at half time, not after the game.

Dude he was barely able to walk by the middle of the 2nd quarter. he is missing wide open receivers. What do you mean hindsight is 20/20 what else does a coach need to see to make a change? he can't run and can't throw. In the 2nd quarter our offense had what? 20 yards total?

I disagree, it wouldn't be about losing confidence. Everybody watching the game would've known why he took him out and probably would've agreed with the decision. If RG3's healthy and he gets benched, that's where his confidence in his QB is called into question. That wouldn't have been the case here.

Totally agree. His passes were off and the read option was not affective at all. At one point we didn't run it for a long time, and when we did griff was really hurting. After that point you as a coach you need to make a call cause it was so noticeable.

LOL, I'm so ****ing sick of the coddling and injury excuses. As soon as RG3 starts missing throws it's "oh, he's injured of course". No one here would have had any issue with RG3 playing hurt if he was putting throws on the money. People play hurt in the NFL, many of them play very well with a little pain. RG3's ineffectiveness needs to stop always being blamed on an injury and maybe just that we were going against great D or maybe he's just off.
