Look, I agree with most of your post. And I'll actually say that I would've been okay with benching RG3, but that's just a choice that we can easily make. It's a lot harder to make if you're Shanahan. A couple more stops from the D and we pull this game out, then no one has much to say.
My whole point is that it is easy to play Madden GM/coach, but realistically Shanahan went with his best hand, and he failed. Cousins wasn't gonna get it done either, I promise you that.
We're all Skins fans here, we all want the best. But I've been a Shanahan backer from day one and he fell a little short. It is what it is. Let's get ready for next year. Realistically, we weren't Superbowl contenders with RG3 going into this game. We were gonna live or die with him and we died. Let's move on.
Eli Manning will be 31 years old when the 2012 season starts.Michael Vick will be 32 years old when the 2012 season starts.Tony Romo will be 32 years old when the 2012 season starts.ROBERT GRIFFIN III will be 22 years old when the 2012 season starts.
"Washington strolled to the NFC championship, outscoring their two playoff opponents by a combined total of 48 points. Their domination was more than impressive, it was historic. The 1991 Redskins boasted the largest average margin of victory among all Super Bowl champions."
--- America's Game
He hasn't been right for the past month. He was looking worse this game then he did last. You have to question why was he on the field for 3 games on a bad wheel (that even one of your team doctors was hella nervous about). I mean that is really terrible. No if's and's or but's about it. No hindsight 20/20 stuff your star quarterback has been in danger for the past month and you chose to gamble with the odds. No surprise when the odds may NOT ever be in your favor one of these games.

Again, I'm sure after seeing Robert limp around the field...I mean you're just saying he couldn't run...well he couldn't run vs. Philly but he was effective. He literally couldn't make basic throws because he couldn't plant. At that point, it's clear he is legitimately injured. Sometimes you need to protect people from themselves. Pride is a dangerous thing.
And again, not everyone is speaking in hindsight and not everyone is solely mad because we lost but because we put RGIII at a high-risk of injury and he in fact, got injured again.
I'm loving all this "I'm disappointed in Robert for not knowing when to quit" bull****...
I know quite a few people in this thread who curse Jay Cutler's very name and have called him a quitter several times because he was benched after he tore his MCL. Where was all the "Cutler realized he couldn't help the team?" stuff then?
I think right there is the problem.
Looking at the game, and the way the D played, if RGIII is pulled at 14-13 in the 3rd quarter, I think there's a 50-50 chance about that you win that game.
I certainly can't sit here and say anything absolutely in either direction.
And I can't believe that anybody else honestly can.
