RG3 will be back. He does what he needs to get better. If he needs surgery, then have it. Whatever he needs to do, he will do.

The team will adjust to any time in 2013 that we will have to be without Robert; whether that's a few games, half a season or the entire 2013 season. Kirk and the entire team will have to step it up next year. I would even spend a 6th or 7th round pick on Kirk's eventual replacement should we find out Robert will be gone for a significant portion of 2013. I know that any playing time Kirk has next year will be parlayed into draft picks in 2014 for when he gets traded.

No, you know that stupid intro sportscenter does with the music and has like 4 or 5 headlines....it was "Alabama wins" followed by "Rg3 Career in doubt" to something about the Wizards beating OKC

his career isn't in doubt. He's a super Athlete (Olympic level Hurdler) like a Peterson and proved his senior season at Baylor that he was better after his first surgery. I expect nothing less and think he'll be even better for years to come

I think we (and I'm including ESPN) need to wait and see what Andrews says today. All this talk right now is just speculation.

And I'm already sick of these idiot fans of other teams saying Shanahan should have taken Griffin out..blah blah blah. Sick of it. Worry about your own damn teams.

Agree whole heartedly on both accounts. Let's just chill out and take it one step at a time as fans. First what is the injury? Secondly what will be done to fix said injury? Thirdly how will this affect his next year and season of quarterback development. We aren't even at first yet.

Hard to know what's what, but I think these are the current facts:

    1) According to WaPo, Griffin may have partial tears of his ACL and PCL ligaments, according to his MRI scan. He had reconstructive ACL surgery already on this knee at Baylor, so it's hard to tell what's from the old injury, and what's new. According to a poster on this board, Griffin's dad said that RG3 will have his knee scoped tomorrow by Dr. James Andrews. The arthroscopic surgery would be able to determine whether additional reconstructive surgery is necessary.

    2) According to one of the moderators on this site, "it's bad."

    3) Recovery from first-time ACL reconstructive surgery can be done in 9 months, if you're superhuman, like Adrian Peterson. Usually it's a year, and full strength in the knee often arrives after a year's time. Second-time ACL operations, like the one Griffin could need depending on Dr. Andrews' exam, take even longer to recover from.

We still have a very bright future. This young man will not be stopped by a knee injury. He has proven that he can overcome a significant injury like this. Let's hope they don't rush him back.

    Hail.

PS: and please for the love of god, stop calling for shanahan's head. It's just insane.
How can anyone give a time frame for his return when the extent or treatment of the injury hasn't even been determined? It's a wait and see thing.

Haven't heard one word about his PCL. You're thinking LCL.

This is from the WP, maybe you guys saw it, but if not maybe you will find it encouraging as I did.

“We won’t know until we give him a full examination,” Andrews said. “But he’s a great kid, and we’re going to get him well for next season.”

The press asked a Redskins executive about the salary cap penalty and the executive responded, "Ask John Mara." So the press asked Mara and he said, “What they did was in violation of the spirit of the salary cap. "

Oh I see now, even though there was no actual salary cap in 2010 according to the CBA, the "spirit" of the salary cap still existed. Thanks for clearing that up Mara.

I am honestly preparing for Kirk Cousins being the starter next season.

This season was good despite the loss but this injury really puts a damper on any optimism for next year.

After some time to think about it, I think this is a good thing for RG3. After having coaches and everyone tell him that he needs to slide or throw the ball away and protect himself, I think during his rehab process he will see how important he is to the Redskins and will realize that he has to protect himself better. We could see a whole lot smarter RG3, sliding and throwing a few balls away when he gets close to the sideline now. Maybe i'm just being optimistic, either way he is here to stay and I love it!

Shanahan is letting moderators in on RG3 injuries? Maybe the janitor did know about RG3's knee 4 weeks ago.

    ---------- Post added January-8th-2013 at 11:15 AM ----------

I might catch alot of hell for this but I must say I want Dennis Dixon on this team next year to sustain the same offense when RG3 is not playing. That pistol offense is a beast to contain and Kirk Cousins just does not fit the bill for that style of offense. Obvious when the kid is 80% as seen in the first two drives of the game the Seahawks were lost. Dennis ran the offense in Oregon and would not take much time to understand the offense. I hope Shanahan would put his gm pride to the side because he drafted Kirk and realize Dixon would be a huge asset at the backup position.[COLOR="Gold"]
