Team official says torn LCL for RG3. This was first reported by ESPN. Source close to RG3 says doctors expect "same RG3 next season."

    Looks like ESPN.

So according to some Dr. on ESPN LCL rehab would last a minimum of 4-6 months putting Griffin ready for the Season.
If it is a combo of LCL and ACL then rehab is 9-12 month minimum, which means 2014.
    We shall see

Most of the time serious ACL tears are known about quite quickly after they've been inside the knee I thought.

Others have mentioned that it be some swelling around the area that is making things a little difficult to find out.

Also, his previous ACL injury in 2009 may be confusing doctors as to what's the old injury and what is new.

The best spin we can put on it is that maybe the damage to the ACL is so minimal (or none at all) that that is why they aren't seeing anything.

Then I am a ****ing idiot. And so are our coaches. And so is RG3. And so are all the players in our locker room that wanted him to take the field.

If his knee comes off during the procedure, it's probably 12+ month recovery (depending on the mitigation strategy).

Sense among the coaches there, who have not received a formal briefing, is that RGIII will be out much if not all of the offseason...

Andrews may end up having to repair multiple ligaments

    Kevin Sheehan ‏@kevins980
if Dr.Andrews is still on the payroll & has the ability to communicate clearly, he should explain the injury/surgery, not Shanahan.#Redskins

#Redskins spokesman echoed what @Rich_Campbell tweeted on ESPN report Griffin tore LCL "We'll have an announcement at the appropriate time."

    Brandy G. ‏@brandymac27
@ZacBoyer @Rich_Campbell When do you think the announcement will take place?

    Zac Boyer ‏@ZacBoyer
    @brandymac27 @Rich_Campbell Tomorrow.

True, I'm with you. But it's still all a bit confusing. Sources over here seem to say he'll be the same Rg3 next year meanwhile the doctor on NFLN says if they find more damage to the ACL (which they still need to look at), it could be a 9-12 month recovery.

I agree, but opinions are all we really have. We won't really know how even a successful surgery will impact Griffin until he resumes football activities. So, unless you want to shelf this topic until the summer, we are stuck reacting to the information we have.

I'll believe it when I hear Dr. Andrews say it after the surgery

After this debacle, it'll be very interesting to see how RG3 is handled next season. Or if they just act like none of this happened.

From what I understand the Torn LCL is confirmed, and surgery is scheduled for Thursday, and during the procedure they will find out if there is any damage to the ACL as well.
