I wonder if the brace saved us all from a lot more damage. And to think during warm ups he was out there with a sleeve of some short.

As much as I hate to say this, Peterson was an extremely rare case of injury and recovery. If we expect RG3 to duplicate that, I think that's being a little unrealistic and unfair. Having said that, I do hope he makes a full recovery and is under center for the start of the 2013 season.

    Mike Jones on Twitter:

Per: @DaveSheinin: UMD Dr. Dr. James C. Dreese: LCL tear could keep Griffin out 8-12 months depending on repair or complete reconstruction.

He is having surgery on his LCL that much is confirmed. Andrews will assess further damage including any to ACL during the surgery and likely fix that at the same time if necessary.

At the very least RG III is likely looking at several months of rest and rehab after surgery. The only news that can come during and after surgery is even worse. If the ACL is damaged also then it's likely the entire 2014 season to be missed.

What in the world is there to be happy about???
The possibility that he could be back this coming season... and the fact that people have tweeted about it? It is factually incorrect to say that the only news that could come after surgery is even worse. If nothing is found and it's just the LCL he can be back in September.

I read it. And it's a statement that can't be made with certainty considering thy have no idea what they may find with the ACL yet. Yeah it sounds good. I hope it's true. But it can't be known yet according to dr. Andrews who clearly can't say with any certainty his ACL is fine until he gets in there.

So one tweet says he'll be the same in 2013, this one says he's screwed for 2013. How do we sort this mess out? I know, more tweets!!!

I remember Dr. Andrews saying that Adrian Peterson had one of the best specimen of knees he's ever seen. AP's the exception, not the rule, to how/when a player comes backs from this kind of injury, and I'd be weary to use him as a benchmark.

Simply not true, there was a doctor who has worked on many sidelines with many professional teams on ESPN 980 saying we can fully expect the same RG3 back with the same running capability he had before he was injured. His worse case scenario was around Thanksgiving.

RG3 did only miss 9 months with his first ACL reconstruction. The problem is if its another ACL it could be a longer recovery time. Bottom line though, He is being treated by the best sports injury surgeon in the world. He will most likely make a full recovery.

Right now the good news for me is whatever is wrong with his knee he will be able to come back 100%. I don't care if this takes 3 months 10 months 18 months. I want RGIII not to have any long term effects. Seeing how AP come back 100% I am very hopeful since Dr. Andrews worked on him. Work you magic Doc.

How it looked when it happened generally doesn't have all that much bearing on what actually is torn or not and what the grade of the injury is. Watching the hit from Ngata you would think that there is no way he only got a grade 1 sprain.

I swear these DRs to get paid to give worst case, longest rehab time possible.

Im going with what Drs close to the situation said ... We'll expect the same RGIII next season.
