According to ESPN surgery tomorrow on the LCL.
One thing is certain, I've learned more about knee ligaments than I ever planned to in my lifetime.

http://twitter.com/DanHellie/statuse...41687374102528Surgeon who worked/trained w/ Dr. Andrews told me chances of RG3 getting reconstructive ACL surgery in addition to LCL is close to 100%
9-12 months RT @Lisa_LBR: @DanHellie What did the surgeon say about likely recovery time?
For some reason this reminds me of the situation with Malcolm Kelly. That guy had bad knees.
The fact that RG3 has possibly had major knee surgery twice by the age of 22 is depressing news itself.
I think it's a valid conclusion that RG3 is an injury prone player. He may have knee issues his entire career. If that's the case, the Rams won that trade by far.

Instead of all this speculation...let's just pray for Robert! That he has a speedy recovery and can get back to the RG3 we saw this year! It's all we can do, pray and hope for the best!
Article from the Times on New Years discussing the 100%.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/...-him-just-hai/"The doctors say he’s 100 percent," Shanahan said. "We don’t have to worry about him re-injuring that LCL. The brace helps him at least mentally know that he’s not putting too much pressure on it. I think sometimes that’s why he looks a little bit different when he does cut. I think it bothers him just a hair, but it’s something that he has to wear.”

Worst case scenario IMO is RG3 returns with more limited mobility- 4.5 or 4.6- think McNabb in his prime, but smarter, more accurate, and a considerably better work ethic. I'll take that. We're talking about a rare, once-in-a-lifetime athlete AND individual here- he's going to find a way to succeed. I think he's definitely learned his lesson to protect himself now, though. Sometimes a punt is better than a catastrophic injury
Using that same rationale, I can only conclude you also believe that Adrian Peterson is injury prone. After all, he suffered a severe high ankle sprain as a sophomore, broke his collar bone as a junior, and dislocated his shoulder as a freshman. All that before shredding his knee as a pro.
Hmm, I didn't say an LCL never requires extensive reconstruction. More times than not, LCL's can be rehabbed without surgical intervention or require surgical repair, not a full-blown reconstruction. It appears non-surgical rehab is not an option anymore since reports are saying that he's going in for LCL repair this week and investigation to the extent of potential ACL damage. I just asked the poster I quoted who said there was specifically a reconstruction needed? Everyone's throwing around "reconstuction" terminology and no one has any facts to back that up, that's why I was wondering what the source was.
Also, I didn't say I knew any specificities about his injury or time frame for recover, just the opposite in fact. People are throwing around specifics, I'm just not thinking a lot of people understand what actually needs to be determined with this surgery and thinking it's a reconstruction. And I agree with you, barring release of RG3's MRI and surgical reports, we will never know the exact injury to his knee and will have to accept what the team gives us.
Formerly known as Nunya Bidness per arrangement with ES staff
How can one believe anything they say at this point. It's obvious he came back to early and they did not disclose the full extent of the injury. It's ironic that the team from DC spins like its politicians. I say late Aug/Sept at the earliest.
