Alright, you can be optimistic as much as you want. It's not like the guy is recovering and going back to a desk job. Before AP, just about every player I've seen has needed until that 2nd season back to be at full speed. We will see how the rehab goes, but I wouldn't roll your eyes acting like recovering fully from 2 torn knee ligaments, one being a complete tear of an already repaired ligament, in 6-8 months is some golden standard. There is 0 room for set backs. If I read correctly they are taking some of the other patella tendon from the other knee, leaving no more patella tendons left if God forbid another acl happens during his career. So do you risk the franchise player playing him 8 months off a major knee surgery? That will be the question all summer I think. So yeah, I'll expect 2014 off season while hoping for any of 2013.

We don't know how long it will take him to recover to the point of being able to train. I doubt Andrews will know, even after performing the surgery. There are so many variables that the only time frame you can give for certain is the minimum: 6 months. It could be 8, it could be 12, it could be longer. We'd all love some certainty on the recovery time, but we all just have to wait and see, and hope.

Which is crazy to me because when you look at his quads they are ridiculously strong (looking). Heal well, kid.

I hate offseasons with injuries like this...Instead of, how has RG III progressed as far as throwing from the pocket, etc. We get how is RG III's rehab going...What a disaster

I'm feeling the same way. I had hoped he just made it through the season healthy and then work on getting better in the off-season.

Well, at the same time, I feel we are extremely lucky that the recovery time is only 6-8 mos for two torn ligaments (and a 2nd to the same ACL). Could be A LOT worse.

Also, the silver lining here is that Cousins will get a lot of good reps in OTAs and mini-camps.

With the PCL rumors swirling this almost feels like a silver lining. That was a 12-14 month recovery.

Rehab is down to a science now. Day by day plans and milestones. This kid will come back stronger and hopefully smarter about risking more injury when he again steps on the field.

Lets not forget he won the heisman last time he came back from injury.

that is why it is 6-8 months, he is not like us, he is a well trained athlete with a lot of fight and a competitive spirit, I believe he will be ready and he will have an amazing season next year and win Comeback player of the Year, I believe in him and our team HTTR

This should be added (on other thread), but they are saying that it was his ACL "repair" that was damaged, and that they would have to repair that. And that's the reason why the rehab time frame is 6-8 months and not longer. They expect him to be ready for the season.

it sounded like his ACL repair was odd anyway, two screws and a rubber band, so maybe a silver lining this is a good thing to get that repaired correctly so he can have a long and healthy career, I will be praying for him

Why does the story/news continue to change? I go to bed at midnight and it's a torn LCL only. I wake up and it's now a torn ACL and LCL? I thought the whole point was they didnt know about the ACL until they got in there with surgery. Now, al of a sudden, they know? WTF is going on here?!

Two hours after the game, Chris Clemons has a torn ACL. That story hasn't changed since the initial report.

I'd lean on the side of being overly cautious. Once he seems ready to go and the knee seems stable and strong, then continue to work a while to strengthen it before exposing it to the hits of linebackers and defensive linemen. If he's "ready" to go medically for game one I'd like him to take an extra month getting really ready.

Overall, probably the best news we could hope for.

it is not a torn ACL, the damage is in the repair of his previously torn ACL, so they are going to fix that, kind of like you break a cavity, you don't have a new cavity, but you have to get a new filling

I don't think there was really any doubt that he had an ACL tear. It's extremely rare for the LCL to be torn without a tear to the ACL. Really, I just think the previous report was a way of saying that they wouldn't know how to operate on the ACL until they got inside his knee to repair the LCL.

Who decides he's 100%. Do we just ask him if he feels like he can go, again? Trust is a factor because this situation doesn't make sense. Someone was less than accurate about that knee.

I don't think that we just asked him if felt like he could go this time. Doctors will weigh in and Griffin himself will weigh in. Pretty much what happens in sports at every level. I would expect that Griffin's input will be considered in the context of him saying he is ready pretty much no matter what.
