I understand people clinging to hope of him being ready opening day 2013, but I would rather they give us a timetable of 8-12 months or even longer, and if he's ready by Sept. 2013 GREAT. But it takes pressure off him not being ready by then. There won't be questions of what went wrong with the rehab, was it worse than they were letting on etc. I want zero pressure for him to play until he is really completely rehabilitated.

    Redskins @Redskins
"@RGIII had successful knee surgery early this morning. He had a direct repair of his LCL and a re-do of his previous ACL reconstruction...

"We expect a full recovery and it is everybody's hope and belief that due to @RGIII's high motivation, he will be ready for the 2013 season.

I think pressure is equally applied by half the people saying hes already done and finished and won't be the same guy. All thats going to do is fuel him to rush back. If you really want the guy to come back slowly and on time, quit having people running around saying RGIII's career is already basically finished.

Burying a guy only makes him want to come back harder, and if you think thats a danger to him, then those people are a bigger danger than just saying he might be ready by 2013.

And now, I laugh and cry simultaneously at the Redskins' official announcement, which says absolutely nothing.

I disagree you put that season opener timetable on him it increases the pressure on him, the organization and the doctor.

I would rather have an accurate timetable instead of just making up some arbitrary timeline like you just did.

Who knows? If the previous Dr did a shoddy job on the 1st ACL, this could be a blessing in disguise for the long term. And to think he runs a 4.2 with screws in his knee is pretty crazy as well.

lol it basically says what was said last night expected by the start of the season. They'll just have to see how these first few weeks of rehab go then adjust the time table accordingly.

People are getting too hung up on these timelines. They are arbitrary numbers that mean nothing. He'll rehab as best as he can and work toward his goal of returning by week 1, but if he's not ready, he's not ready. Simple as that. This isn't comparable to taking calculated risks on a sprained knee during a playoff run. The team is not going to risk his career.

If I were to read into that, i would assume a re-do of the previous ACL surgery, as well as from what I've heard other people say, would mean they essentially tightened the ACL injury with stitches. If thats the case, like I tried pointing out earlier (we never knew if they fully replaced it or fixed it), it would mean he has a greater chance of coming back full strength and likely before thanksgiving.

As a fan I would too, but for his health it would be better to pad in some to take pressure off in case there are some setbacks in rehab. The LAST thing that needs to happen is him go out on opening day because that's when he was supposed to, not because he is ready to.
