I still think this should be called "The Official RG Knee Thread"

I agree. I'm surprised it wasn't changed early on by a Mod. The Bengal fan who created it never returned.

It's probably buried within all of the pages in this thread: what exactly did they do to RG3's ACL? Did they completely reconstruct it? If so, where did the graft come from? If they didn't completely reconstruct it, what did they do?

What I know is the graft came from the healthy leg since the graft from 2009 came from the right leg. They used the patella tendon.

Yes, but he has no idea what he is talking about.

So, did we sign Eddie Royal?

    Can we use his ligaments?

Turns out Dan's medical transporter is broken.

I don't think the had to reconstruct the ACL, but they did do an all new, more complete graft on his knee instead of the "patch job" one he got in 2009.

As to where they got the graft from, the got it from RG3's other knee.

    According to this site
    http://news.fredericksburg.com/redsk...m-acl-surgery/
It says the 2009 surgery used a synthetic band in the knee. Not a graft from his patellar tendon

Vinny Cerrato believes he gave Jim Zorn a roster that can make the playoffs. A playoff kicker doesn't miss that kick. A playoff safety doesn't bite multiple times by a double move in the same game.

Sorry I got back to you so late. Anyway, it's just my opinion that Hightower doesn't bring anything to the table that we already don't have and to have him take up a roster spot because he blocks well is not what I would do. He's what, 27 and had a major knee injury. 27 for a RB is like 34 for a QB. I'm ready to move on from him.

Damn I whish someone would actually tell us what that first surgery was. This whole time I am thinking it was the patella tendon from the right knee that was used as the graft in the 2009 surgery (that is why Andrews had to go to the left knee for the new tendon since the right knee tendon was used in 2009). If the synthtic band was used in 2009 why did Andrews open up the healthy knee for the patella tendon? Why not just use the intact patella tendon from the right knee, if a synthetic bad was truly used in 2009? Something does not add up with the synthetic band story.

Isn't it OK for us to not know every consideration and detail of Griffin's medical history? If Andrews chose to use the other knee's patella tendon, I'm sure there is a valid reason. In the big picture it probably doesn't matter what the reason is.
"Washington strolled to the NFC championship, outscoring their two playoff opponents by a combined total of 48 points. Their domination was more than impressive, it was historic. The 1991 Redskins boasted the largest average margin of victory among all Super Bowl champions."

They don't want details out. Doctor-Patient confidentiality.

I assume they took part of the tendon from his other knee (healthy) rather than the injured knee (LCL/ACL) because they want the injured knee to keep all of the patellar tendon to help keep it strong and heal faster.

Very good article posted by Haphaszard in BRBN

It has some quotes from Carriker and, yes, Bill Goldberg.
