You people kill me. Cut this guy, fire that guy.... YOU DONT HAVE A CLUE.
Lets start with the basics... YOU DONT CUT SOMEONE UNLESS YOU HAVE SOMONE BETTER TO REPLACE HIM.
And even more basic... NO RECEIVER CATCHES EVERY BALL.
This has been a public service announcement from "People for the sane analysis of football".
We should have cut Gary Clark at halftime of the 1991 game in New York. He dropped 2 sure TD passes from Rypien. If our WRs can't step up to help Mark, who will?
"Washington strolled to the NFC championship, outscoring their two playoff opponents by a combined total of 48 points. Their domination was more than impressive, it was historic. The 1991 Redskins boasted the largest average margin of victory among all Super Bowl champions."

Well, if ES were paying posters, maybe! The guy is paid to do a job; catch the football. I'm sure all of us would like to se him really progress and step it up next year, but face it; if he comes out with the same sporatic on-again off-again performance next year, the torches will be alit and cries in the aire for Devin, um, I mean Leonard to be cut, because you can't keep hoping one year he gets it, because it'll be 10 years down the road with no aspirations to be better when he's getting a nice paycheck; the same paycheck that a younger faster receiver with focus would kill for.
Now, the hand-waving thingy? Too much Gangnam Style or caffiene; you're better than that...![]()
So, his completion %, YAC, yds/reception and run-blocking all improved from last year and he was credited with three drops all year. Remind me of the argument again? Something to do with a 2nd year, developmental, 4th receiver returning from injury showing a lack of effort by improving?
I saw Garçon drop some really easy (drive-killing) ones but I don't recall any threads lambasting him. Curious.

To be fair, I didn't care for Hankerson long before his most recent drop. My dislike isn't knee-jerk at all.
The guy is simply nothing special. His ceiling is a #3 wideout at best. Of course, there's nothing wrong with being a #3, but why keep him around when there are 100 other players who could do just as well and may have much more potential?. After 2 seasons, Hankerson has shown that he can catch passes and get tackled...that's it, he's shown nothing else. Like I've said before, he's a poor man's Jabar Gaffney. I guarantee he won't be here past next season.
Oh, and for the people comparing him to Rod Gardner...that's not even fair. Rod Gardner had 1,000 yards and 8 TDs in his second season (700/4 as a rookie), and that was with Tony Banks under center.
Hank's got a long way to go. He seems solid, but not much above that. Course, we've seen how long some receivers take to get going (Roddy White and Jordy Nelson come to mind) so there is room for Hank to step up. That being said, Garcon is the only receiver on the roster who's an impact player on every down. The rest seem to be role players.
Good points. I honestly don't know if Hankerson and Robinson have reached their potential yet. I still think its too early to judge (completely) especially since both seemed to improve from last year. Given they are still young, homegrown, pretty inexpensive I don't see a reason to cut them at this time. Or treat them like garbage for that matter.
We should all abandon this thread for a year and bump it after the 2013 season. If the criticisms are still valid, then this will actually be worth discussing, if not, it'll wither on its own.
He's a 3rd round player in his 2nd year, and his 1st full year after a major injury. He is still developing. If Hank catches that one ball on 3rd down this thread probably doesn't exist.
With guys outside of the 1st round, you pretty much have to let them cook for 3-4 years to see where they truly are. Year two is not long enough. Dez Bryant didn't crack 1K yards until this year, his 3rd year. Roddy White didn't crack 1k until his 3rd year either. Heck, Art Monk didn't crack 1000 yards until his 5th season. Admittedly, he played in a different era, but the point is these things take time.
I left the RG3 thread for this one, hoping to talk some football and see some posts that actually make sense. Then I read a post on this thread that compares Hank to Devin Thomas. Guess I'll go back to the RG3 thread, there's less stupid **** over there.
I'm really indifferent to him but since he's under contract for next season, I doubt there's much of a shot if him leaving/getting cut. If 2012 was a contract year then this debate would have legs
