Really good read on Delmas and his passion for the game...
Delmas and Lewis are two younger cheaper players coming into their prime that would improve the secondary a great deal. We should go after both of them hard. We could seriously improve the CB and S spots and barely scratch any FA money.

He's arguably been the best player on their offense. He's changed the perception of him coming out of New Orleans, at least some. Now, I agree he's not a 300+ carry kinda back, but he's better than being strictly a 3rd down back, IMO in the right system.
They have Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller is my point. Even reading the Dolphin blogs people are mixed on Bush... They will not be keeping Sean Smith, Long, and Bush. I'd be really surprised if they do... Long will command the most money but you are right, Bush is arguably their best playmaker...

Jeff Ireland has been known to do some crazy stuff though and normally pisses off his fans. I will not be surprised if they let him walk.

Agreed. That's two A-B starters on day 1 who are, for the most part, unknown commodities.

Ask any Lions fan and they'll say the defense and team performs better with Delmas on the field. He's a high reward type of player IF, he can stay healthy.

At 25, I can only imagine he'll try and take better care of his body and hopefully we can let him roam the secondary while we have an in the box SS in Meriweather or whoever we get to play SS. Typically though, we do have an in the box SS in this defensive scheme.

Also, Sam Shields is listed on the first page in the OP but you might as well scratch that one off. He'll be resigned, especially since he's a RFA..

I'd love to have Danario Alexander, WR for the Chargers as I've mentioned before, but he too is a RFA and it's not going to happen, no chance.
    3 INT's in 4 seasons.

I read a post from one of the insiders last week saying Helu was still only able to do light jogging ad was still getting a lot of pain from his toe. There seems to be some real doubt he will be ready for next season.

At this point, the important thing is more to have S that are not getting beat and are consistently in the right place. The turnovers will come, and if they have to come from other spots than S fine. We will be much better if we just have a body on WR instead of consistently getting burnt or out of position, regardless of interceptions.

Passes defensed factor into that and he's been ok but inconsistent at that. Just being in position and not having the ability to force an incompletion won't get you very far. I think he will ask for more money than he's worth.

You are 100% right but at this point lets just get them into position and worry about the rest later! That is a sad truth lol

If we're talking who would be an upgrade over the safeties we have he would definitely provide that. Now let me go find a 3 foot scroll so I can make a list every safety that would provide an upgrade over ours.

I think you are being a little generous with a 3 foot scroll cause I'd say just about every fa s is better than madookie Williams

Nice one. Great use of 'scroll'.

Maybe he meant a magic scroll?

So I've asked this in a couple places and got no response. How did Madieu play down the stretch? Did he improve as he got more comfortable in the scheme? Did coaches try to hide his weakness(es)? If so, how'd they do it?

I only ask because the big plays seemed to go down quite a bit and I didn't think our defense had much room for improvement with him on the field. My guess is that the aggressiveness of the defense meant fewer opportunities for downfield plays, but that answer seems a little... facile, I guess.

When we got fans wishing we had Carlos back you know it's bad in the secondary. Hopefully in a couple years we are not pining for the good old days when doughty was a starting safety.

Not sure if this has already been posted:
    http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports...h-gun/1845899/
Bengals' Andre Smith arrested for trying to board plane with gun
Bengals offensive tackle Andre Smith was arrested Thursday and released on Friday in Atlanta after being accused of being in possession of a handgun at Hartsfield International Airport.

According to Atlanta police, Smith was caught with a .380 caliber pistol as he was preparing to board a flight to Miami. Smith was booked into Clayton County jail and released on Friday afternoon after he was issued a $3,000 bond.
According to people familiar with the case, Smith, 25, did not have knowledge there was a handgun in his belongings. Those people asked for anonymity because they have not been authorized to speak publicly about the case.

Bengals public relations direction Jack Brennan said: "The team is aware of the incident. However, it would inappropriate to comment until the matter is resolved through normal legal channels."
... several NFL players told USA TODAY Sports that approximately 75 percent of their teammates owned guns.
