Correct me if I'm wrong but I can't recall Eddie Royal doing anything in the league other than his rookie season in which he played opposite Brandon Marshall and had Jay Cutler throwing him the ball in a Shanny designed offense. I think a lot of players would have shined in that role. I'd rather bring a young WR to develop.
I don't see Royal coming back. He dissed us in FA last year. Yes, Shanahan might have seen it as a business move and understood that Royal wanted more money if SD was offering it but it seems to me that after being wined and dined last year and leaving for SD last minute puts a bullet in the deal.
I've pondered that very same thought and mentioned it in here a few days ago... Will be interesting to see but I think if he comes available, Shanny will have a good, hard look at it. I really do not want Niles 'baby hands' Paul returning anything and I don't want to see Crawford taking those hits on returns. Royal will be cheaper than Moss as he is only scheduled to make 3mil in 2013 as opposed to Moss's 6.1mil, and he's only 27. I hope Moss restructures and puts some of his salary in to a signing bonus so we can pay him outright off of the cap or slice the number down.
I know that Niles was in his 1st year as a TE but I don't think the experiment is going to work. I think Niles is a very good special teams player in coverage as he can lay the wood. Yes, I agree his hands are suspect. I too agree that IF Crawford's roles expands more I wouldn't want him taking the shots either. I don't want us to resturture Moss for his monies to count later down the road. Moss played well last year but I think his contract needs to be redone to pay him only 1/2 of what he's getting for this upcoming season saving us 3 million dollars. JMO.![]()
Vikings | Percy Harvin not planning a holdout?
Minnesota Vikings WR Percy Harvin is not planning to hold out at this point, according to a team source. "As far as holding out, that's not something that I've heard he definitely will do at this point, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're throwing out threats - that's what agents do," the source said. "However, when you are under contract the team controls the situation, not the player. I hope he doesn't think a tactic like that would work if that's what he's thinking."

Yea, that's what I mean, pay him a guaranteed money for this year and get away from the 6.1million number... Way too high. Eddie Royal can do the exact same thing Moss can and he's younger, more versatile. I'm not advocating for him, just think it wouldn't be a bad option and I wouldn't be upset.
Royal had his chance last year...he took his free dinner then headed to SD...![]()
I wouldn't think Royal comes here. Way longshot.
Roman Harper - DB - Saints ESPN NFC South blogger Pat Yasinskas considers Saints SS Roman Harper a candidate for release.
Coming off a terrible season for a defense that could be plausibly be called the worst of all time, Harper is due a steep $5.35 million between salary and bonuses. Now on the wrong side of 30, Harper will at the very least be asked to take a sizable pay cut.

Eagles | Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie could be tag option
The Philadelphia Eagles could consider placing the franchise tag on impending free-agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie before the start of free agency.
Royal has had a series of lower body injuries ever since his great rookie year, and it seems to have taken a toll on his quickness. He's a little guy, so if he doesn't have the quicks, he's very limited. This past year in San Diego, he couldn't get back from a groin injury.
On the flip side, people should not minimize what Santana did for us last year. He was absolutely clutch, making huge catches on seemingly every tough third down, and he led us in TD's.
My feeling on the wr's is, this is the 3rd year for Aldrick and Hank. The 3rd year is when you finally know whether or not a WR has "it." Look at stats for most guys, year 3 is usually the break out.
If Aldrick and Hank can be legit, reliable threats, they need to show it in 2013.
If they can't do it, at that point I'm moving on.
Q: Are you surprised by the lack of production by the back-ups on the offensive line?
Vinny Cerrato: "Are you talking about all the sacks and stuff?"
1) I am interested in Roman Harper. Just for competitions sake
2) This is very interesting about the Eagles. I wonder where they'll find the cap space with all of the money they have committed. I suspect they'll have to purge a couple of players to fit Smith in. I doubt Talib goes there when he could come here... just a hunch.
FREE ROB
Royal is not the answer and do not see that we missed him last year
Think he did us a favor by backing out of contract.
