I think its doubtful Chester is going anywhere. I dont think Kory will be back as a starter next yr (whether he's here or not) and think that Lerib is going to be our LG next yr. I also think there will be a camp competition between Polumbus/Hurt/Compton for RT next year (assuming Polumbus is resigned). With the strapped cap situation, I cant see us focusing on RT with anything more than a mid round pick (and that most likely will not develop into a starter this year). I would actually be interested in seeing what Hurt can do over at RT, he played very well there in his 1 start. This would be my hopeful/most likely lineup next yr....(Not including FA pickups, strictly IN HOUSE)

    LT - Williams
    LG - LeRib
    C - Monty
    RG - Chester
    RT - Hurt/Polumbus/Compton

Hopefully we can get Lich back here to "battle for a spot in training camp", where he can then be a backup G/C next yr. Compton becomes our swing tackle and Polumbus as a backup G/T

Falcons | Michael Turner likely to be cut
The Atlanta Falcons are likely to release RB Michael Turner. He's scheduled to make $6.9 million in 2013.

Eagles | Nnamdi Asomugha could be cut
The Philadelphia Eagles will cut CB Nnamdi Asomugha if he doesn't agree to a pay cut.

NFL | Greg Jennings seeking $14 million annually? ()
Rumors around the NFL Scouting Combine are that free-agent WR Greg Jennings (Packers) is seeking a contract worth $14 million per year.

Dolphins | Negotiating with Reggie Bush
The Miami Dolphins have begun negotiating with free-agent RB Reggie Bush (Dolphins) in the past week. The Dolphins want to re-sign Bush, but they want him at their price. General manager Jeff Ireland feels Bush is more suited for a third-down role or a receiver spot.

Bills | Want to bring Leodis McKelvin back
Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix said the team would like to re-sign impending free-agent CB Leodis McKelvin but understands the team will not be able to re-sign all of their free agents.

Buccaneers | Quincy Black may have played his last game for the team (gotta wonder if he'll ever play again... sad)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik said LB Quincy Black (undisclosed) underwent nerve graft surgery at the end of January. Black may have played his last game with the Buccaneers.

Chris Chester was a steal from Baltimore and has played every game!
Who else can say that? Hurt and Gettis have not been needed.
He was the fastest lineman in the draft when Ravens drafted him and is perfect for our team!

Terrance Williams - WR - Player Baylor WR Terrance Williams measured 6-foot-2 and 208 pounds at Friday's NFL Combine weigh-in.
Williams is up seven pounds since the Senior Bowl, likely in an effort to show improved strength. He's being billed as a vertical threat only, lacking physicality and versatility to his game. Williams is a projected day-two pick.

Louis Vasquez - G - Chargers The Chargers have identified free agent LG Louis Vasquez as their "top priority" to re-sign and will make him a contract offer "shortly."
The Chargers arrived in Indianapolis on Wednesday, and on Thursday night met with Vasquez's player rep. Vasquez is believed to be seeking $6 million annually. Turning 26 in April, Vasquez would be a hot commodity if he hit the open market.
    Source: Union-Tribune San Diego Feb 22 - 11:55 AM

Bart Scott - LB - Free Agent Free agent ILB Bart Scott (toe surgery) expects to be healthy by May, and is "drawing interest from a few teams."
ESPN New York considers Buffalo, Kansas City and Baltimore potential landing spots. Being less than 100 percent for the start of free agency could cost Scott some money, but he should be able to find a new home for 2013.
Source: Conor Orr on Twitter Feb 22 - 11:46 AM

Davone Bess - WR - Dolphins The Palm Beach Post suggests Davone Bess may not be a part of the Dolphins' 2013 plans due to "friction" over his late-season back injury.
Per beat writer Ben Volin, the Dolphins "thought Bess could play" through the injury, but he shut it down instead. Bess is still an efficient slot man and owed an affordable $2.63 million, so we suspect he'll return for the final year of his deal. He probably shouldn't get his hopes up for an in-season extension.
Source: Ben Volin on Twitter Feb 22 - 11:41 AM

George Wilson - DB - Titans Titans agreed to terms with SS George Wilson on a multi-year contract.
Wilson's signing comes 11 days after he was released by the Bills. The eight-year veteran also visited the Lions, but was otherwise greeted by a soft market. 32-year-old Wilson's best days are behind him, but he remained an above-average run stopper in 2012, and held his own in coverage. The money is also on the team-friendly side for Tennessee, picking up a good player on the cheap. Wilson's addition signals the end of Tennessee's Jordan Babineaux experiment.

EDIT: 2 year contract worth $4 million

    ---------- Post added February-22nd-2013 at 12:04 PM ----------

Ted Ginn - WR - 49ers A league source tells CSN Bay Area the 49ers have not "placed a high priority" on re-signing return specialist Ted Ginn.
Ginn is still a fine return man, but continued to have trouble staying healthy in 2012, and offered nothing as a pass catcher for a team hurting for receiver depth. The 49ers would be better off devoting Ginn's roster spot to a returner who can actually catch passes in a pinch, or vice versa. Beat writer Matt Maiocco reports LaMichael James and Kyle Williams could compete for return duties in Ginn's absence.

Us showing no interest in Wilson like that proves we won't be looking at Safeties that are up there in age to just clog the leak like the last two years with OJ Atogwe and Williams... we're going to be looking for a long term fix there.

I really hope this is the offseason that ends this incredible string of misfortune at that position.

A few weeks ago someone posted a video review/dissection of AlMo's 30 yd TD run. Watching it very closely, I noticed that Chester's performance on that play was superb. Yeah, he's a very good starter for us. As for the Ribster, there seem to be conflicting stories on whether he will be a G or C. Polumbus is clearly our weak link on the OL. Being that he plays RT, this is not insignificant. Obviously we all want to know what we have in Hurt and more so in Compton. Shanny's system would seem to favor a LT-type who's not up to snuff to play LT in the NFL but doesn't have the power to play RT (which he wouldn't need with Shanny, since it's like judo v. boxing) so there should be such a player available we can afford ($ and draftpick-wise) if Hurt and Compton don't step up.

That was me. I think it was one of KD's threads about the ZBS. Chester has been worth every penny.

Interesting, I haven't been as high on him as others, but he's a little more versatile than just a deep threat. At least, that's the impression I got after watching him.

I agree about quantity of pick, my point was for the purpose of drafting starting FS talent in the draft from the perspective of quality. Without a 1st rounder, and with our first pick at #51, we might miss out on the first three or four safeties, and there may be a disconnect between the talent available at FS, and our pick. Due to that it's quite possible we could miss a starting caliber FS in this draft, which is why Corey Lynch is a decent option. My point was that, if we had a 1st round pick, I wouldn't be nearly as concerned about our likelihood of being able to draft a starting FS, but we lack such a pick, and the window to draft a FS is probably gone by the time we pick in the 4th. That's what I meant by "limited picks," we have a smaller window to draft a starting player than normal.

In terms of pure quantity of picks though, obviously we have 7 picks thanks to the extra 5th, and I actually do think we might do well to package some picks and trade up at opportune moments, and draft more for quality than quantity.

Jennings is in for a surprise if he expects $14 mil/year. That's ridiculous

Cool. I just wanted to make sure your difinition of "limit" was put in proper perspective.

Aside from some camp bodies/vet depth I can't see this team doing much in FA outside of the back 7 on defense and TE/RB/RT on offense.
How much do you think Levitre will cost?

It seems to me G is a reasonably priced FA position (like LB or S). We got Chester for 5 yrs 20M in 2011. I thought McRib was taking more snaps at C in training camp but I know he had to fill in at G during the season. There was another poster who said RG3 was taking a lot of unnecessary hits due to poor pass pro from Lich after reviewing tape. Seems like we need an upgrade at LG and RT. Protecting RG3 should be one of our top priorities moving forward, IMO.

Levitre fits the Shanny/Allen FA profile: he is only 26 and playing at a high level with a body type that is a good fit for our scheme. I thought it might be money well spent / good value compared to other FA positions we might spend. However, I don't have any idea what kind of numbers would be looking at. Anybody have an educated guess?

Ben Grubbs signed a five-year, $36 million contract with $15.9 million in guarantees last offseason – that may be a decent comparison.
