Barry Cofield is LEGIT... no more nonsense about we need a "real" NT... HE IS THE REAL DEAL!!!! He goes to the Pro Bowl this year, book it!!!
Mike Patterson - DL - Free Agent Eagles released DT Mike Patterson.
Patterson, 29, was owed a $2.9 million base salary. His release saves $3 million versus the cap. An undersized nose tackle who's spent his entire career in Philadelphia, Patterson was the 31st overall pick in the 2005 draft. At 6-foot-1, 300, he was a poor fit for the Eagles' new 3-4 scheme and will join Cullen Jenkins on the street. Philly is now wafer thin on the defensive line, but has ample cap space to work with. Expect the Birds to go hard after a defensive end and a nose tackle in free agency and/or the draft. Related: Eagles

Sean Smith - DB - Dolphins According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, "maybe the most coveted" name on the free-agent cornerback market is Sean Smith.
Rapoport lists the Eagles, 49ers, Buccaneers, and Lions as teams that "value" Smith. All are cornerback needy, and Philadelphia reportedly likes Smith "a ton." Rapoport suggests the Eagles may let free agent Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie walk, sign Smith, and bring back Nnamdi Asomugha on a restructured contract. Related: Lions, 49ers, Buccaneers, Eagles

Tom Brady - QB - Patriots Patriots signed QB Tom Brady to a three-year extension through 2017.
Previously signed through 2014, Brady is now under contract until age 40 and will likely retire a Patriot. MORE TO COME.
Source: SI.com Feb 25 - 4:24 PM
The New England Patriots have agreed to terms with QB Tom Brady on a three-year contract extension that will run through the 2017 season. Brady will receive a $3 million signing bonus and is scheduled to make $7 million in 2015, $8 million in 2016 and $9 million in 2017. Brady was scheduled to count $43.6 million against the salary cap in 2013 and 2014 before the extension but now will count $28.6 million in 2013 and 2014.

Okay, I'm sorry, I set a bad precedent with that post, but let's try to keep the cap penalty/injunction/DEFCON 5 talk to the threads that are reserved for them.
Even though I'm hella excited, too
Let's keep it real up in hurrr please.

I heard about that, the Pats are looking at over $30 mil in cap space this offseason and next after this move. Color me jealous.

The Saints have held no significant contract talks with free agent LT Jermon Bushrod.
Bushrod does expect a contract offer from the team shortly. "It's about to get interesting," he said. The Saints will not franchise tag Bushrod, but figure to make him a team-friendly proposal before the market opens on March 12.

Above is a link for Evan Silva's Top 50 FA and were he predicts that they will land. Here is what you want to know:
We don't sign any of them. Most of these guys are those who we expect to resign with their teams. Very few players changing hands. But, for those with pipe dreams... go ahead and get yourself a dose of reality if you have a few minutes.

DC9, thanks for putting in the work on this thread. It's pretty damn great.

Thanks, all of the hard hitters make it pretty easy! I just update the OP, lol. Oh, and I'm glad you're back, bro.
This thread and the roster cut down thread are two of my favorite things on this board. We all have that pride/arrogance about being the first to know and all, lol. And 99% of the time we do.

Yes, but in our defense, we gave him an offer, he snuffed at it, we said "it's been real" and signed Stephen Bowen minutes later... who in turn has been better far and away.
We didn't abandon our principles that we were trying to establish here, and it paid off. Several times with that FA class. It's paying dividens organizationally and on the football field now. That's all I was trying to say.

Bowen/Jenkins have the same amount of tackles, Jenkins has more sacks and I'd bet he has more pressures/hurries.
I don't think the stats/performance suggest that Bowen has been better then Jenkins.
USA Today's Mike Garafolo says the Giants and free agent LT Will Beatty have just "minor issues" to resolve in contract negotiations.
Speaking to Giants fans, Garafolo tweeted, "I wouldn't sweat Will Beatty's free agency. Lots of time to resolve what I'm hearing are minor issues." Beatty has long been considered New York's top priority among their own free agents, and it appears a deal is likely to get done before March 12. His signing would leave the Giants feeling a lot more comfortable on the offensive line heading into free agency and the draft.
ESPN's AFC East writer James Walker mentions free agent CB Brent Grimes as an option for the Patriots.
Grimes is expected to seek out a one-year, prove-it deal in free agency after tearing his Achilles' in Week 1 last season, and Walker suggests Grimes as a cheap alternative to fellow free agent Aqib Talib. Falcons coach Mike Smith recently said Grimes' rehab is going "outstanding."
According to the Union-Tribune San Diego, the Chargers "look to be considering a run" at free agent CB Jerraud Powers.
Both of the Chargers' incumbent starting cornerbacks (Antoine Cason, Quentin Jammer) are free agents, and Powers played in a defensive scheme similar to Chargers DC John Pagano's under Pagano's brother, Chuck, in Indianapolis last season. Powers is a talented 25-year-old who's mostly underachieved to this point in his career. He's not likely to break the bank in free agency.

Cardinals beat writer Mike Jurecki says "not to be surprised" if the Browns target free agent S Rashad Johnson.
Johnson can play both safety spots, and the Browns have a need at free safety next to T.J. Ward. New Browns DC Ray Horton, of course, was Arizona's defensive boss for the previous two seasons. The Cardinals are fully expected to try and re-sign Johnson before free agency opens on March 12, though.

^^Wait, Quentin Jammer is a Free Agent? Why haven't we spoken about him much, am I missing something?
I forgot, is he old now or something?

You can have a good season while screwing over the rest of your team. There's also the locker room thing. I didn't want Jenkins because he had just won a ring with Green Bay... there was a hunger question there for me.
