Andrew Brandt was talking about the Steelers today on NFL Radio...said they are doing it wrong and pretty soon its going to come back to get them. They will have players no longer on their team taking up most of their cap room.
They were looking into the deal because it was well below market value. Other agents were pissed that you weren't getting Brady at market, therefore it lowered the Franchise tag for guys like Joe Flacco. I think the Brady deal cost Flacco $800k this year if he is franchised.
The deal is set up to where he can be cut after 2014 due to injury, but the Pats are on the hook for the contract so long as Brady is on the roster at the end of 2014 and he isn't injured.

Their last Super Bowl year reminded me of the 1991 Redskins so much. They had a lot of aging veterans that they didn't want to say no to and they resigned them essentially rewarding them for services rendered. It's going to sting them in the coming years and already started this past season.

Sean Smith - DB - Dolphins Free agent Sean Smith insists he's "never talked to any other team besides the Miami Dolphins."
According to Smith, former teammate Vontae Davis got the impression Smith was talking to the Chiefs after Smith told him he'd been in contact with new Chiefs DBs coach Al Harris. Smith insists he was just congratulating Harris. We don't expect the Dolphins to pursue tampering charges. Related: Chiefs

Steelers are in a lot of trouble. Steelers fans have seen the writing on the wall for a while. They can still try and re-build via the draft, but that team, particularly that defense, is full of overpaid veterans and they are going to be near the bottom of the league soon. Even Big Ben can't help them ... they may never be 5-11 ... but they won't be much better than 7-9 or 8-8 for a few years while they fix themselves up and re-tool.
I am ok with Josh. I like his feistiness and he's a very good blocker. But if I recall he saves 4 million on the cap, and he has only more year contract wise. Having surgery on both his hands and ankle after coming off of surgery the prior year too -- and he's never really had a breakout year where he's been one of the leagues better #2 WRs -- I wonder if he's a candidate to be released? Hankerson, Garcon, Moss, Robinson -- and perhaps another WR drafted could hold the fort. It's not that am looking to dump him but to me its all about trade offs -- would I rather have Morgan and another player gone or Keenan Lewis? I'd take Lewis or whatever trade offs are in play.
On another note... Anyone watch the Texans much lately??? Seems they have an under the radar free agent CB in Brice McCain who was IR'd in December... More of a nickel corner but lines up well with slot receivers. I try to watch their games because of our similar systems and familiarity of our coaches.
Also, PFF ranked the 2013 Cornerback Class for Free Agency... My two guys Keenan Lewis ranks #6 and Chris Houston ranks #2... Brent Grimes #1... Greg Toler is at the bottom #10.
1. Brent Grimes
2. Chris Houston
3. Adam Jones
4. Aqib Talib
5. DRC
6. Keenan Lewis
7. Sean Smith
8. Cary Williams
9. Bradley Fletcher
10. Greg Toler
If you look at the numbers, Adam Jones is quietly the best (statiscally) in his position.

Was he horrible in the first half of the season?
And believe me when I tell you I have performed through injuries in my profession.

I think it was saying he played with a plate on his ankle last year and just had that removed. It can only get better right?

I am more impressed with Bradley Fletcher being #9. I think you brought him up a while back. St Louis was so stacked at corner and they kept all of them last year on cut down day. Fletcher was the one we all thought was headed out and were ready to jump on, too.

Yea, I like B. Fletch... Quiet dude just can't stay healthy enough for people to see his true potential.

Rashad Johnson - DB - Cardinals The Arizona Republic believes free agent S Rashad Johnson is "optimistic" about reaching a new deal with the Cardinals.
The sides have mutual interest in a new deal, so there's reason to believe something will get done before the start of free agency. Beat writer Mike Jurecki believes former Cardinals DC Ray Horton could recruit Johnson to Cleveland if he hits the open market.

Redskins | Joshua Morgan injury update
Wed, 27 Feb 2013 12:45:32 -0800
Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins WR Joshua Morgan (ankle, hands) said he had three surgeries since the offseason began, and he is unsure if he will be ready for OTAs.

OK, but having surgery on his hands is a new surgery. Again, its not that I don't like Morgan, i like him as a player but I don't love him as our #2 -- so if we don't get cap relief, I wonder if for example would be better off using that money for a bigger weakness than WR depth. Am not sure there is a big drop off from Morgan to Hankerson -- Hankerson apparently has become a good blocker, too.
