FANTASY TIP: "Burner Turner" isn't the same player he used to be. He could latch on somewhere as a short-yardage/goal line back and have some value. Don't completely write him off yet.

Wasnn't there a post yesterday about the Titans wanting a short yardage back?

it's all about the price with him. Should be cheap because his effort has been poop the last couple of years.

I think it was talking about Javon Ringer getting more carries in short yardage situations instead of CJ. I could've misread though.

Yep, they don't want to use CJ2K as a full timer anymore for short yardage.

Also, I think it's time for Fletcher to retire. I wasn't impressed with his play last year. I know he was injured and he did create some turnovers, but we need the salary space and to continue with the youth movement. I appreciate all he's done, but I'm ok with him not being on the team this year. I was actaully ok with it last year, before he re-signed.
Sorry I didn't see this until today, PJ. Basically yes. The reason that we have threatened to file an injunction to stop FA is because we are supposed to make our case at the owners meetings from 17-20 March and they will let us know then. That's at the end of the first week of FA. We are basically trying to get them to hear us out first.

But, you'll likely start seeing moves soon (especially with Fletcher, Hall, and Moss) on their status with the team or their contracts. I'm sure we'll wait it out as long as we can before let out what is going to happen.

I have a sneaking suspicion that we already have the restructured contracts ironed out, they just need to be signed. So we wait until we hear about the cap issue, then if need be have the players sign their contracts.

Redskins: Right tackle Ryan Harris – Tyler Polumbus is a free agent and wasn’t very good. Washington doesn’t have an heir apparent at the position. Harris filled in admirably in Houston’s zone-blocking scheme last season as a spot starter, and he’d be a nice, cheap fit for basically the same offense with the Redskins. He was a third-round pick by Mike Shanahan’s Broncos in 2007.

I see Harris mentioned going to the Skins a lot from media/board members. My only thing there is 2 fold

    1. Shanny has said multiple times the key for a good O line is continuity/health -- and Ryan Harris has a bad history of injuries

    2. We had a chance to pick him up multiple times and passed. So why is this time different?

Henry Melton - DL - Bears CBS' Jason La Canfora considers free agent DT Henry Melton a "sure thing" for the Bears' franchise tag.
As does the Chicago Tribune. The Bears have a little more than 72 hours to make the move official. Melton will be due $8.5 million under the tag.
Source: Jason La Canfora on Twitter Mar 1 - 12:54 PM

Phil Loadholt - T - Vikings CBS' Jason La Canfora reports the Vikings will not use the franchise tag on free agent RT Phil Loadholt.
ESPN 1500 Twin Cities reported as much last month, saying the Vikings would prefer to work out a long-term deal with their mauling right tackle. Loadholt would have been guaranteed $9.8 million under the tag.

I had the same questions initially. Basically, he was coming off of injury/surgery in 2011 offseason when he was signed by the Eagles and I think spent some time with another team as well.
In 2012, the Texans took a flyer and he got playing time and rated out farily and has been relatively healthy all year.

So now in 2013, he's a cheap stop gap option who appears to be reliable and familiar with our system.

I agree. I dont think they would wait till the last minute. Or they are prob holding back to make it look like we are going to sue.

If the Giants get Toler I think we should all go to New York, find Mara, tie him up to a pole, line up and pimp slap him one by one.

Ugh, not sure what it is, but I really like Hall. When he gets a bad rap I've always defended him. He's still JUST 29. I would love to keep him around a few more years. With that being said ... if the team decided to part with Hall, we'd save $8 million. I HAVE to imagine you can parlay that money into a FA CB and FS. Maybe that's Greg Toler and Corey Lynch, with a couple mill left over.

    I wouldn't mind going into 2013 with Toler/Wilson/Amerson/Crawford/Minnefield.

FWIW, if we cut Hall, I really think we would really need to extend Josh Wilson ... it would lower his cap hit this year and also secure the position beyond this year.

The Giants are "continuing to see" if they can work out a new contract with free agent FS Kenny Phillips.
Per reporter Jason La Canfora, Phillips is unlikely to be franchise tagged ahead of Monday's deadline. With Antrel Rolle and Stevie Brown at safety, the Giants will likely only bring Phillips back if it's at their price.
