Honestly, Will Montgomery's contract should be restructured along with Dhall's, Barry Cofield's, Fletcher's, Santana's, Josh Morgan's, and Carriker! Either extend the length to save money or just flat out release fletch, moss, carriker!

why would we gain an additional 18? In 2014 our cap will be the same as everyone else's, and our position in it will depend on how much the contracts of our players for 2014 are. Since we're not likely to have a bunch of guys with identical salaries next year we will not begin next year with the same amount paid out before free agency

Yes, we would no longer have the $18mil penalty, so we would then have the same salary cap as the rest of the league, but it is also possible that many of our contracts/restructures would have escalating salarys for the next year, so we may not be significantly "under" the cap. This should be an interesting off-season, one where the FO earns their paycheck with some creative pay scales

Couldn't disagree more lol My feeling is we have compton so bringing in another young player to compete sets that position for the future. Also Shannahan has a better record drafting starters on the line. At FS we have no one, as Meriweather is a SS exclusively. We need a vet there to stabilize the position and allow young player to grow under him. Knowing our deep safety was absolutely our weakest link last year i cannot fathom trusting a day 2 rookie to immediately fill that hole.
