Now, I don't think that's necessarily his fault, he simply didn't get targeted a ton, but I wonder if that will force him to accept less money. He certainly could/would be a nice weapon, I wonder if we could lock him down for something in the 3.5-4M/year range, maybe a 4 year/ 15M contract. We could keep his cap number pretty low, maybe around 2M this year, rising in later years, which would free up about 4M left over from Moss' contract, which would give us some room to re-sign our own UFAs.
Ironically, Royal didn't sign with us because he thought he could get more playing time and targets in San Diego. That didn't work out that well. I would still love to him have as my VT love knows no bounds. It would be tough to let Moss go after the season he has had but Royal could come in at the same cost as Moss would next year after Moss restructures. Might be a fair swap considering age. Maybe we bring Moss back after releasing him for cheap. He would be a good mentor.

Or we trade Moss and Hankerson to Minnesota with a 3rd and take Harvin. Then we have Garcon, Harvin and Royal. Super Bowl baby!

    I'm kidding...

Michael Vick - QB - Eagles

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Eagles have worked out a restructured contract with Michael Vick, and will keep him for 2013.

Financial details are unavailable, but Vick has been re-signed to a "three-year deal" that will void next March 15, ostensibly making it a one-year pact. Vick had been set to make $15.5 million in the third season of a six-year, $100 million contract. The news makes Vick the obvious favorite to pilot Chip Kelly's offense, but both FOX's Jay Glazer and the Philadelphia Inquirer believe he may have competition. However, it's doubtful Vick would have foregone a chance at the open market if he wasn't offered assurances he'd likely be under center come Week 1. Vick's playmaking skills have been in steady decline, but he'll still be a highly intriguing fantasy prospect in Kelly's breakneck offense.

March 9th is a ways off yet and we need 2/20 combine for looking at draft prospects talent.
How is injury list progress going along?
    This should priortize our needs.
Do not rush Shanny as his staff just got back from vacation.

Yeah, a career low in targets in SD. I'm not sure why they brought him in if he was just going to be 6th in targets.

Same thing with Meachem, they signed the two of them in the offseason, and then gave them just 76 targets combined. I wasn't paying close enough attention to know what happened there, but SOMETHING must have happened, that's just way out of the ordinary to sign guys like that then sit them.

I too would like to keep Moss, I think he would be productive and still has at least a good season, maybe even two, left in the tank. The problem is money, and long term planning. Moss is due way too much money. Like you said, we could cut and re-sign, but it might not be terrible to move along and look to the future. Royal will only be 27, he can be counted on maintaining for at least another 4 years. If we drafted someone like Austin, Bailey, or Swope, they too would be long term solutions. I just can't see Moss here beyond 2014 at the latest, which makes things tough.

Probably ideally, for us, we'd cut and re-sign Moss for vet min, and get Royal in FA, and they could split time in the slot, but if Royal had playing time concerns, that won't fly. If we're forced to go one or the other, I'm stuck on the fence.

Does anyone know exactly why he was targeted so little? Did his play decline, or was it the system, or did Rivers just never throw his way? Knowing that might get me off the fence one way or another.

A big point of the article was that the Dolphins are likely moving on because Smith thinks highly of himself and he doesn't want a modest deal. He wants to get paid like an elite CB.

Saw this in King's MMQB today...pretty interesting, if true:

    8. I think ProFootballTalk made a great point Saturday about one aspect of the free-agent market: the tackle conundrum. There are so many good ones who will be free -- Jake Long, Brandon Albert, Andre Smith, Jermon Bushrod, Ryan Clady (likely to be franchised), Sebastian Vollmer and Sam Baker -- that the value will go down. Teams can likely to get a good tackle for $7 million or $8 million a year if they're patient.

"Washington strolled to the NFC championship, outscoring their two playoff opponents by a combined total of 48 points. Their domination was more than impressive, it was historic. The 1991 Redskins boasted the largest average margin of victory among all Super Bowl champions."

Anyone hear about Keenen Lewis? He is a starting CB for the Steelers and is going to be a Free Agent. I've heard that he would like to come to Washington, and from what I can tell, he'd be very useful in our Secondary. Has anyone heard anything about this?

Here is a link with some info about him:

It is very true. That's why it was interesting to see the list of names getting larger with guys like Cherilus, Loadholt, and now Doug Free, etc. These guys are dropping like hot cakes. In the end it comes down to the athleticism for playing in the ZBS. There aren't too many teams who will be looking for ZBS RT's like we will... A few new names are the Steelers and Jaguars who are converting to the ZBS.

Still can't believe we haven't brought in Jovan Olafioye for a workout... He may very well be the young, established, athletic and versatile OLineman we need and he's just waiting for a contract...

I'd be surprised if you went through this entire thread and didn't find a page mentioning Keenan Lewis brother. He is a consensus top CB pick from all of us contributors to this site. He's also the Steelers top re-signing priority but would definitely be an upgrade if we could pull it off.

It doesn't say in the link sorry. Yeah, didn't read through 100 pages so just wasn't sure if he is on the team's radar or not.

I actually work with his brother, and his brother told me that he'd love to be in DC. Obviously, I've never spoken to the guy, but I trust his brother.

It's true...right now...and that's always the problem with the market. It sounds like the Giants want Beatty back, and I've heard that the Bengals want Smith back too. Clady also looks like someone who's going back to Denver, he's too good to just let walk while you've got Peyton back there and an open window at the SB. If the market shrinks to Long, Albert, Bushrod, Vollmer, and guys like Cherilus and Baker, the cost might go back up.

And 7-8M is out of our price range anyway, we need a right tackle, not a left, and the ideal contract for that would be something around 4year/22M (Eric Winston's contract).

I've been asking about it. Just did this morning...asked when Keenan was gonna be in Burgundy & Gold. He said he's talked to his brother, but he won't know much more than us until FA begins.
