Agreed. He also has that thing where the ball likes to find him... either by fumble or through the air. That's important.

Saw that too... first thing that came to mind was that takes Aqib Talib off the table OR they are drafting Xavier Rhodes at the end of the first round.

Yeah, but I'm keeping my place up here, so if I come up for a game I'll have the next day off at a minimum. Unless TK wants to carpool,

So for instance if RG3 misses the whole 2013 season (hypothetical), he should be let go and replaced because he didn't contribute? Glad you're not running the team. Hell, someone tell the Patriots they messed up the year Brady was out. He didn't contribute, they should have cut him.

If Carriker was the anchor of the defense and put up 20 sacks a year and the defense wouldn't be effective without him I might agree PJ.
Could you make the argument that the pass rush was affected by AC being out this year? Absolutely. You could also make the argument that it had to do with Orakpo (very likely) and the lack of a true Safety (also very likely).
The way DG worded it left it open a little, but I agree with what he is saying in terms of Carriker.

Sure, every player would have to be evaluated, but he's saying cut Carriker because he was injured and didn't contribute anything. I'm saying that is the wrong reason for cutting him. If you want to cut him because his salary is too big and he won't take a paycut, then OK. I'd be willing to give him and Meriweather a shot to make the team this year. I just wouldn't be so quick with the chopping block, but that's me.

If it were me the easy decision would be instead of restructuring Hall, release him. You get 8 mill worth of cap room and use part of it to sign Lewis, hes younger and better than Hall. If they want Hall back, I'd let him become a FA and see where the market goes, hard for me to imagine him where he is pushing 30 to get a big contract from anybody. If we restructure it just pushes back the pain and IMO its not worth it with him, I'd let him go and see how it plays out.

Do you understand how high the coaches actually are on him though? Painful for you? Sure, in ways of watching television and playing the blame game. For a lot of those guys it would be more painful to let him go. Hall plays a lot better than anyone around here typically thinks.
I'm sorry - how long ago was it that Dez was brutalized by D.Hall along with Austin getting 0 catches on 3 targets. Along with it being arguably the most important game at FedEx Field in its history. Less than 3 months ago.
Hall is statistically noted as having 1 sack, led the team in tackles for a loss, led the team with 14 pass deflections, 4 interceptions, a recovered fumble, and a blocked kick.
He sucks, get rid of him!

yeah in the 4th i think he is a no brainer pick for us if the team is comfortable with his off the field issues... i think the hard decision would be if we are good with the off field stuff then we do pick him in the 3rd round.
If the FO does believe that Mathieu can get his act together then his name isnt even on the big board on draft day.

To go along wiht Rocky52MC's comments.,... I would think that team would be asking him to take a pay cut and not to restructure. Restructuring is for people who is worth the money but the team needs to move the money around... I think we will be asking Hall to take a "modest" pay cut in the range of 2-3 million to make his salary be around 5 mil for this year... Who knows maybe even lower than that if we can get Hall to take a team friendly extension that is mostly guarranteed.
Also I am not sure why everyone thinks that Lewis is going to had at a cheap price... it isnt a secret that Lewis is a solid young CB that is hitting the FA market. With amount of money that is availiable in the FA this year, I dont see why Lewis is going to sign for a team friendly contract if the consensus around the league is that Lewis is this great young CB like people on ES thinks he is...
Wow. I appreciate the heartfelt pitch for D. Hall but you are creating your own shots at Hall and making assumptions about what I am thinking. I didn't take a single shot at D. Hall in the post you responded to, in fact I can't recall a post where i ever really focused on ripping D. Hall in all my time here, though maybe i missed one but he's not a player that generally consumes my attention. I thought it was self evident but clearly I need to elaborate as to why I'd release Hall and take my chances signing him that way as opposed to restructuring. Its pretty simple:
A. I think a guy like Keenan Lewis is better.
B. Keenen Lewis is younger
C. We likely can get Keenan Lewis or a player of his caliber cheaper at the same price or cheaper than 8 mill
D. D. Hall will be 30 and will unlikely get 8 million from anyone on the market
Conclusion: So if you want D. Hall back why pay him like he's one of the best corners in the game especially into his 30s? The fact that i don't think he is one of the elite corners in the game or deserves to be paid as much into his 30s -- doesn't mean the opposite extreme that he's terrible.
Just for kicks, I'll play along as if I killed the guy with my post when I didn't, I am curious are you suggesting you know first hand on how coaches are high on him based on you having personal conversations with them? If so, cool enough, I'll trust it. But if its based on your thoughts tied to what you think they are thinking -- you got guys who will contradict you including Chris Russell who covers the team. If i recall on Twitter LL56 said something to the effect that the team would consider releasing D. Hall but don't know who to replace him with -- which didn't sound to me like they are in love with the guy.
It doesn't have to be a wild fluctuation between love or hating a player. And I doubt its the case with the Redskins when it comes to Hall. He's a feisty player who to your point played well in the clutch in the home stretch of the season -- but the way the Redskins operate, am doubting that they love paying a player turning 30 a salary that puts him among the top at his position when he's not IMO and most others one of the top 10 corners in the league. If he were 24, I would bet it would be a different story. Just my opinion here.
