Yeah, and unless the Boys, Eagles, and Giants all find replacements for their aging QBs soon (Vick on 1 year deal, Romo free agent in 2014, Eli 33 in 2014), the Redskins might be the only team in the division with a franchise QB.
It's like, what bizzaro universe did we all step into and where is the exit so I can board it up and NEVER GO BACK.
Giants GM Jerry Reese says there has been "some conversation" with free agent LT Will Beatty.
Beatty is the Giants' top free agent, along with Martellus Bennett, but neither is a likely option for the franchise tag. It might be wise for teams to let their free-agent offensive tackles hit the market because the talent pool is deep, therefore lowering their price tags.
Free agent CB Sean Smith is looking for "at least" $24 million guaranteed on his next deal.
Smith and his agent were said to be using Titans CB Jason McCourty's contract as a baseline for negotiations, and McCourty received $20 million guaranteed on his six-year, $43 million deal. A source close to Smith reportedly "laughed" when asked if there have been productive talks with the Dolphins. The Palm Beach Post says not to rule out Miami using the transition tag on Smith
The Palm Beach Post says one team to "really watch" for free agent Reggie Bush is the Chargers.
Bush badly wants to return to the Dolphins, and GM Jeff Ireland would like him back as a "slot receiver" and "third-down back." The Chargers make sense, though, because Bush is from southern California and his parents still live in the area. Also, the Bolts are looking for an upgrade on free agents Ronnie Brown and Jackie Battle to complement Ryan Mathews.
ESPN Dallas' Calvin Watkins says the Cowboys have not discussed cutting Miles Austin.
On the heels of a semi-report that Austin is a potential cap casualty, Watkins' information indicates there is no new news here. Austin remains more likely to stay put in Dallas, though probably by way of a restructured deal.

If Nnamdi gets cut by the Eagles, ShanahAllen should take a serious look at him.

Late dinner/dessert chicken, melon, and cookies from rotoword.com (DC9 and the fam ate well tonight):
The Bills "have been in touch" with restricted free agent WR David Nelson.
There have been conflicting reports on if Nelson will be tendered. However, GM Buddy Nix said at the Combine that he plans re-open talks before the start of free agency. After missing all of 2012 with an ACL injury, the Bills are considering the medical risks in keeping Nelson, but would have little depth behind Steve Johnson at receiver if he isn't re-signed. Nelson is "hoping to be full-go" for OTAs, and is expected to be ready for the start of training camp.
Bills signed assistant GM Doug Whaley to a contract extension.
The eventual successor to current GM Buddy Nix, Whaley has served as the Director of Player Personnel for the last three seasons. He was promoted to oversee the College Scouting Department in 2012 and assists Nix in all personnel decisions. President and CEO Russ Brandon says there's no timetable for when Nix will step down and the general manager transition will take place.
Updating a previous item, Lions C Dominic Raiola restructured his contract, dropping his 2013 base salary from $4.05 million to $940,000.
Raiola agreed to the restructure two weeks ago, and it will likely keep the 34-year-old around for the final year of his deal. The salary is not guaranteed, though. The reduction saves the Lions $3.1 million against the 2013 cap. Raiola has made 68 consecutive starts.
Cleveland Plain Dealer columnist Terry Pluto "guesses" that the Browns will sign Matt Moore if they sign a free agent quarterback this offseason.
He admits it's "just a guess," but Pluto is more plugged in than most newspaper columnists and is a respected NFL mind. The prediction also jibes with a recent Miami Herald report that new Browns OC Norv Turner is a "big fan" of Moore. If the Browns signed Moore, he'd immediately become the favorite to start over Brandon Weeden. Cleveland would likely also draft a quarterback.

A guy I hope we sign an will be cheaper than moss + banks is josh cribbs! he's only asking for 1.8 mil a yr an at that price he can play 3 or more roles for the team...
http://m.nfl.com/news/0ap1000000144397/
That is significantly less than what I thought he would be seeking. He would be an interesting option replacing Banks but I'm not sure he can replace Moss' production.
If you release Moss and replace him with Cribbs you have to be assuming some combination of Hankerson/Robinson/Morgan will be significantly improved or another playmaker is added. It could be a risky proposition especially if Davis isn't retained. Somebody has to move the chains.

And boom goes the dynamite on Ryan Mundy's career with the BnG. Thanks LL.

Offensively he did little to nothing in 2012 but had his best year in 2011. He had his third best KR average with 27.4/return (30.7 in 2007 and 27.5 in 2009). Second best PR average with 12.0/return (13.5 in 2007).
That being said he hasn't scored on a KR since 2009 (when he did three times) or a PR since 2011 (1).
I would be concerned with his ability to continue performing as a returner at a high level so if I were the FO I would sign him if a)I believe he can have a significant role on offense and b)he is willing to sign a short term contract
Returner is a short term position much like RB.
Imo the fewer FA moves we make the better.
I hope we don't make any moves that weakens the offense or defense.
Ditto any lateral moves.
Our FA moves should clearly make the team/position group better and hopefully younger.
