Tell that to D. Hall and the Redskins secondary -- Amendola looked like Jerry Rice against them. Amendola is shifty and has great hands. But IMO this is all about age. You sign a guy who can give you possibly 6-7 good years versus one who can give you 1-2 years. In his prime, Santana would bring big bucks in this FA market.

3 teams are in on ex-Chiefs OT Eric Winston, and he could sign somewhere today. Important, bc the negotiating window for UFAs opens tonight.

You know what ... do this:
Cut: Hall, Carriker = $12 million
    Re-Structure: Cofield, Chester, Bowen = $5 million
Pay Cut: Santana Moss = $3 million
Extend: Wilson, Orakpo = $3 million
    Total Under: $26 million

    Re-Sign: Alexander ($1m), Jackson ($2m), Davis ($3m), Kehl ($555k, Sundberg ($700k), Paulson ($1m), Young ($1.5m) = $9.7 million
    Draft Picks: $3.5 million

    Cap Remaining for FA: $13.2m

    Sign:
    Antoine Cason: 5 years, $32 million ($5m in 2013)
Corey Lynch: 4 years, $12 million ($2 million in 2013)
Ryan Harris: 3 years, $6 million ($1.5 million in 2013)

$4.7 million left over for misc.

Draft: Ryan Swope, Darius Slay, Duke Williams, Kevin Reddick, Kwame Geathers, Kerwynn Williams, 7th Round Punter

Seems like a damn good off-season to me ... and you only have to part with Carriker/Hall and restructure 3 guys...

I'd be very happy with this secondary:
CB: Antoine Cason, Josh Wilson, Darius Slay, Richard Crawford, Chase Minnefield
    FS: Corey Lynch, Duke Williams
SS: Brandon Meriweather, Reid Doughty, DJ Gomes

Detroit flew in safety Louis Delmas for a physical today. Could heat up negotiations with Lions before free agency.

We may find Chase to be a lost cause. Report came out earlier last month from him saying that he was going to be "ready for OTAs" but then a report came out saying that the leg opposite the one that was injured has been injured due to compensation. Not looking good for Chase.

What's your fascination with Antoine Cason? He was never fit for the Nickel CB role and then strugglend mightely against physical receivers. We need a legit starting CB to cover #1's. Bottom line, he should have never been drafted that high and quite simply isn't very good.

I don't follow. Are you saying there won't be a market for Tana?

I'm not saying Tana deserves a contract of equal length as Danny might receive.
I'm saying if Danny and Hartline can get $6 mil per year then it stands to reason there will be a market for Tana to get near the same money for fewer years.

    Patriots? Houston? Green Bay?

Eh, it is a recent fascination. I did a read up on him and ESPN has him as their top CB FA ... and then the AJ Smith connection and bringing him over with Lynch nudged me further. Plus the fact that they're both 26 just made sense from a "skins signing" perspective. I've always liked him in the limited time I've seen him play ... but am far from an expert on his abilities. If the consensus on here is that he doesn't fit what we need, then I defer to that judgment and will stop plastering his name around. But however you slice it, if you take away DHall from this team, you bring someone in in FA ... so replace with Toler? I just like the idea of having FA CB + Wilson + 3rd round draft pick + Crawford/Minnefield haha

There will be a market for Tana. What everyone else is trying to tell you is that you don't put $6 mil a year into one player if they are only going to be there for one year, maybe two, unless that player is THE piece you are missing to win a ring.

You put $6 million into Amendola, because you are bidding on his services against other teams. Not a slight on Tana, just business.

Oh no worries man, I'm not judging by any means... We all have our likes and dislikes and who am I to criticize anyone... just didn't know if maybe I was missing something on Cason. Maybe he needs a change of scenery, who knows.

Me personally, I'm extremely high on Keenan Lewis and Chris Houston as my two favorites for the position from the beginning. If I was going for a cheaper target with make or break potential, I'd be looking at Tracy Porter.

Toler may get resigned by AZ. We'll know soon. At the combine it came out that he was talking to them. And again, Minnefield, lol.

If you like Cason stand up and let it be known JMS! Don't let that poo butt Devil Dog talk you out of it!

Not if they are trying to resign him before midnight. You got me all lathered up on Delmas, and that took some doing.

I like Santana more than most on this board. But yeah arguably Danny and Hartline are entering their prime whereas Santana is near the end. If this was 27 year old Santana in his prime, IMO he'd get more money than Danny or Hartline. But now that he's pushing 34 and has lot a step speed wise -- yeah I don't think Santana gets 6 million in this market -- I'd guess he gets 3-4 mill.
