I hope we're not too active in FA.
I hope we sign our important guys first.
I hope we make the smart but tough cuts good teams make.
I hope we can see teams that allow good talent to walk as a sign that isn't okay to let comparatively un-talented players like T Jack and Meriweather to walk.
I hope we sign young guys that have the potential to be more then stop-gaps but are cost friendly to move on from if they fail.
I hope we don't make any major FA moves til post Draft.
I hope we approach the draft from mindset of BPA within prioritized team building parameters.

Can you be more specific on your points i.e. explain why?

Why do you hope Fletch retires?
How/where can the money saved from cutting Tana benefit the team more then Tana's production?
Sav I understand but I have no idea about punters so without a solution I'm not going to let a guy walk.
Why would you be against Colt McCoy?

Probably won't happen, but I'd like to see Jordan Black retained and Tyler gone. I'd like to see Cedric Griffin back too.

[QUOTE=darrelgreenie;9430218]Can you be more specific on your points i.e. explain why?

Why do you hope Fletch retires? He's been great! A London Fletcher only comes around in a great blue moon but he's old and we need to spend the money elsewhere and need it for the cap and draft. Riley should take over his position with Robinson backing up.

How/where can the money saved from cutting Tana benefit the team more then Tana's production? Yes, Moss was one of our best WR last year but again we need money for the cap/draft, most especially the cap. IF we cut him straight up and he wants to come back for the vet minimum, which I doubt he does Aldrick needs to step up and take his place plus we might be drafting a WR that fits his mold.

Sav I understand but I have no idea about punters so without a solution I'm not going to let a guy walk. I have on my wishlist us drafting the punter from Louisiana Tech. If not him than another one of the punters or sign one of the punters as a UDFA after the draft. Sav injury concerns me and he is ancient.

Why would you be against Colt McCoy?[/ I don't think McCoy fits out scheme. I could be wrong but I think Shanahan will resign GROSSman. I hate Grossman but IF not him than maybe an UDFA that fits our scheme better than McCoy.

Losing Fletcher creates a far bigger then hole then merely losing a starting LB. There is no doubt Fletch is old but he's productive, a leader and he's still the best ILB on the team. He call's the defenses, he makes audibles he puts people in the right positions and he still makes big plays. I think another year of Fletcher gives us time to groom another ILB. Again, I'm not sure the exact numbers but someone posted them earlier but we could definetly bring Fletch back and be fine with the cap. Losing Fletch imo would take this defense at least 2 steps backwards.

You keep going back to the cap as if we 'must' cut good players to get under the cap. But, again the numbers show that we could bring Moss back and be fine. Moss has great chemistry with Griffin especially on 3rd and TDs. Losing Moss creates a hole at WR that we hope Hankerson, Morgan and Robinson can fill. But can we be sure? And are we then forced to sign/draft another WR? Cutting Moss seems a lot like digging a hole to fill a hole.

I'm all for getting younger and promoting the development of young players. But not at the cost of production and team continuity. Fletch and Moss are core players, leaders that have a greater impact then their numbers (and their numbers/production is still good).

Sav is fine with me, but whatever he's a punter.

IIRC Mike and Kyle liked McCoy even brought him in for a workout. McCoy at a very minimum fits this scheme better then Rex because of his movement skill alone.

Bro, understand your points but with all due respect it's just the way I see it. It will be interesting to see how everything plays out. It won't be long before we see how things unfold with the cuts/resturctures. We will probably see some of yours/mine take place.

I don't think it will be hard to find good WR's to play with RG3, so I looked at other positions on the master list & the 3 names that stood out was OT Branden Albert, CB Leodis Mckelvin & DL Arthur Jones. I think those would be 3 key additions if they could get them. Albert can play LT, LG & probably play on the right side as well, I think he is undervalued because he is not a stud LT even though he is good enough to start in the NFL. I think he won't get LT starter money, which is good for us because I think he would great for this team at LG or RT.

McKelvin is undervalued in Buffalo, I'd pay top CB $ for him. Jones has a ton of hype, probably a lot of suitors including the team he just won a trophy with, doubt he could be had but would fit nicely in the 3-4, probably won't get much of a sniff at him IMO, but a fan can dream can't he?

I also like the signing of Merling, I wanted the Skins to draft him @ #21 in 2008 instead of trading the pick to Atlanta (& Pick Jordy Nelson instead of Devin Thomas..... So many bad memories of that draft). He has fallen off from a good rookie campaign, but it's low risk. I hope the kid makes the most of his opportunity & makes the team and can make an impact on the field.
