I'm not exactly sure what you wish to quibble about. Naturally there will be times where a team need (pass rusher) matches up with a draft selection (Kerrigan).
But my point that FA is really the only place where a team can predetermine personnel decisions still stands. But, I'll add this caveat if you want to get into semmantics. 'Safely' predetermined. A team can want any number of things in the draft a QB, CB etc. but that doesn't mean the draft will play out in manner that will accomdate them. That is my point. FA is more static then the draft therefore its more possible to predetermine personnel decisions through FA. Follow? Its more likely to project finding a starting FS in FA then it is through the draft.
I don't want quibble over the rest of the stuff. I believe pass rushers are on every teams draft board because they're a premium position, if you think otherwise we can agree to disagree.
Most teams only draft a player if that player has the highest rating on their board, if they weren't the BPA on the team's board then a team wouldn't draft them. And neither here nor there bost most draftniks had Kerrigan rated right around where he was selected.

RIP 21
NO Pressure, No Diamonds, KNOW Pressure, Know Diamonds!
Griffin said that he was going to watch the game with his family and that he will never attend a Super Bowl if he needs a ticket to get in.
Saints | Jermon Bushrod not expected to be priority
The New Orleans Saints are not expected to make re-signing impending free-agent OT Jermon Bushrod a priority this offseason. The team could make a lower offer to Bushrod and consider letting him go if he finds a bigger offer from another team.
Rams | May place tag on Danny Amendola
The St. Louis Rams may place the franchise tag on impending free-agent WR Danny Amendola if the two sides are not able to reach an agreement in the next few weeks.
I'd like to think we've learned as a team and a fanbase.

He better come home. King George, VA baby!
This would shock me. I truly feel that Sam Bradford has not had a truly viable offensive line (until this year) or a truly viable #1 receiver his whole time in the NFL... and then they are going to tag Amendola?Rams | May place tag on Danny Amendola

FREE ROB
Have heard rumors that Robinson is not capable of taking Fletcher's spot as this was tough injury?
We surprised BPA advocates by drafting Joshua LeRibeus for need.
Do we do that this year also?
Are there any FA available for our 3-4 defense?
Feel we would have had a great defense with Orakpo, Carriker,Meriweather,T Jackson,Minnifield,Bernstine,K Robinson and Neild last year.
That's exactly the reason why they can't let Amendola get away because that kills Bradford again to lose his best weapon and also security blanket on offense. They have to keep him while they try to find better WRs for Bradford.

Anybody have an idea what his cap number is now and what he might be looking for in FA?
This is my hope. I want to address our needs at DB and at Tackle in FA and then go into the draft with a BPA philosophy on all positions other than QB and specialists. I think, if that were to happen, we'd come out of the draft absolutely stacked at a lot of positions for the foreseeable future. The positions that we miss out on won't be in dire straits either, and we can address them via FA next offseason.

I should've just read a few posts down, lol. Exactly what I was trying to say, with Tackle thrown in there when it comes to FA.

If we were to draft a WR, TE or a RB in the 2nd round that means the guy we selected most likely had a first round grade on our board. Heck, I'd be willing to bet he had a high first round grade. "BPA" for every team is different and our scouts are going to weigh these players based on how they fit our schemes as well as how important or prioritized the position they play is to us. So, clearly, those three positions will probably have lower "weights" and if we select one of those positions early on, that means we think the guy is an absolute stud who is way better than anyone else on the board.
