What WOULD it take to sign Ryan Harris? I could absolutely see the team nab Toler, Lynch and Harris pretty inexpensively. Of course, if they create enough cap, they could go for a more high-end FS FA too. I still think getting Lynch and Toller would be perfectly complemented by Cyprien or a 3rd round safety to compete.

Harris had a decent season but I believe there are concerns with his back. That's always a red flag. Lynch, Toler and Cyprien would make for a very much improved secondary. I have my fingers crossed.

Toller + Lynch + Cyprian (2nd) + Mathieu (4th/5th round) would be so nice. Talk about a secondary overhaul! I would assume that would likely mean Hall is gone, but I guess that depends on how badly he wants to be back.

We're going to need some luck for Cyprien to fall to us in the 2nd. Mathieu is projected to go in the 4th/5th round. Yes, it would make for a nice overhaul in the secondary. Hall, I think will restructure and be back.

The Bears met with free agent LB Nick Roach on Saturday.
Signs are pointing to Chicago bringing Roach back, though it's not clear where the Bears plan to use him. Roach knows the system and has played both middle and strong-side linebacker in the past. With Brian Urlacher's future with the team up in the air, Roach is a viable replacement for Urlacher in the middle.

New head coach Gus Bradley said Jaguars will play hybrid of 4-3 and 3-4 in Jacksonville.
Expect the Jaguars' defense to resemble the Seahawks' system Bradley implemented in his time as Seattle's defensive coordinator. This means a lot of 4-3 looks, as the Seahawks lined up in a 4-3 base defensive package 51 percent of the time in 2012. The Seahawks often used a 4-3 "Under" defense, where the strong side linebacker is outside the tight end and the "Leo" rushes the quarterback's blind side from the outside. Jason Babin is expected to play the "Leo" role for Jacksonville this

A source close to the Chiefs said Matt Cassel has not been offered a pay cut from his slated salary of $7.5 million.
The Chiefs have not publicly spoken about Cassel's contract situation in any detail, but this information would suggest he's going to be released before free agency kicks off in Match. This news comes as reports also surfaced that trade talks have taken place between the Eagles and Chiefs for QB Nick Foles.

The agent for unrestricted free agent RB La'Rod Stephens-Howling said the last time he talked to the team, Rod Graves was GM.
Graves was relieved of his GM duties nearly two months ago, so it comes as a bit of a surprise that the new regime hasn't reached out to Stephens-Howling's camp. While "Hyphen" is expected to re-sign with Arizona, this news certainly places his future with the team in question.

That's great news. Sounds like LSH could easily be pried away during FA should our coaching staff be interested.

All of the talk on the dude the last couple of weeks has me interested in him. He'd fit in well with 3rd down situations as well as what Banks did for us in the Pistol.

I wouldn't worry about Cyprien not being available at pick #51 because its a deep draft at SAF. If he goes higher it will push another player down it could push Eric Reid down and imo its our gain because Reid is a more complete SAF. And the quality of the SAF group isn't huge. It could turn out the later you draft your SAF in the 1-3 the greater value you get.

It would seem to me that some combination of Mike/Kyle/Bruce sitting down with LSH showing cut ups of the packages we used Banks in as well as the new packages we've designed would be a lot more appealing than a FO that hasn't even contacted his agent and a HC that has stated he isn't interested in throwing to a runningback.

Getting behind an OL that blocked for the #1 rushing offense isn't bad either.

I'd be curious to know if our guys have any interest in him.

@AdamSchefter: Most interesting potential salary-cap casualty in coming days: Cowboys WR Miles Austin. Dallas needs cap space and Austin would provide it.

@AdamSchefter: Cowboys would save $3.6 million against their salary cap if they released WR Miles Austin. The team is roughly $18 million over the cap.

I know lol. I had no idea they were so far over the cap though. They are really going to have to do some wheelin n dealin just to get under much less have a chance at any FAs. Sucks to be them.

I saw that too, I don't even know how they managed to get 13M over the NFL cap (which became 18 with the penalty). And the fact that Austin only gives them 3.6M back if he gets cut makes things really rough, they would still have over 14M to go.

It's going to be really interesting to see what happens with them, but it's good news for us, they have huge holes all along the OLine and are still 18M over, meaning they'll really have to shed some talent. Even if the cap moved to 123M and the penalty got lifted, they'd still be 10M over. And the funniest thing is that you'd expect that sort of cap hell for a team filled with All-Pros, like San Fran, but not from Dallas, who has had a rough time getting to 9 wins the past couple years.

It really makes you appreciate Allen and Shanahan, that even with an 18M penalty, we're not in nearly as bad of cap shape as a large number of teams.

And we won the Division and should be favored next year.
