He would be about 5 or 6 down on the list of guys coming into FA this year at that Position anyways... he won't get paid no matter what. Might as well come try and get a ring.

He'd be the #1 FA TE without the baggage though, right? I could certainly see another team pony up the money with a clause or two tacked on. Personally though, I'm hoping we sign him for a couple of years and draft a good prospect. The improvement in his blocking is what makes me want to risk it (and other teams may feel the same).

I think so. If he wasn't injured he is the best available based on body of work as of late. Not including Gonzo, Clark and Cooley and the rest of all the old guys he seems like the best available. That being said I feel if we can get Cook for less I wouldn't care. Finley is over rated and so is Keller. Who ever comes cheaper Davis or Cook IMO.

I don't see how he'd fit unless we lost Niles or Paulsen, neither of which I think is happening. Casey had 34 Catches for 330 yds and 3 TDs so he's def not a #1. He's also a FB hybrid.

Because of the cap hit and the questions surrounding Davis... certainly don't/can't franchise him again... I think Davis is gone unless he accepts a really low contract offer. We can do well with a quality tight end and not a superstar. Heck, Logan Paulson made some big plays for us.

As for the draft, BPA, but I think hey are hoping for a safety or db.

The team gave Davis a second chance AND i think they have good insight into his rehab than we do .

I think we undervalue the te because for more than 8 years we have had a dynamic TE . As much as i love Paulsen you could see the game plan went away from tbe te ..... in a system that does not feature the te significantly Davis was well on the way to being possibly our best recieving threat

If davis was on another team i think we would be drooling over the possibility of picking him up ....other than tony G then i cannot see another te on the market who comes close ..... assuming he recovers 100%

That said i think the team is going to offer a very team friendly offer that will pay him well if he can prove he can make it back to full heath and keep his nose clean .... and i don't imagine any other team giving him anything better to be honest .

My big question is Jackson..... how much will he cost us and will hebe happy being a back up - Orakpo is going to get paid this season and while the 3-4 pay thd lbs there is only so much money to go around

I'd bring him back as a back-up....if he can stick around and earns the starting gig in TC, so be it. We just can't depend on him like we did last yr.

He was the no. 2 TE behind Owen Daniels who had a very strong season so he was only used sparingly. However, when Daniels was hurt he stepped up and had some very good games. There was little to no drop off, basically. Furthermore, he's a good blocker in the ZBS and knows the system.

He's actually a perfect fit and will come cheap.

im sure the redskins will offer him the most they can. obviously we are in a tight situation with money and fred knows that. if he wants to contribute to the team he will have to take what we give him. dhall knows our situation and he's willing to re-negotiate to make it work. because he wants to be here.

Maybe IMO. In his young career, he's already been suspended 39 games. I haven't done the math but I presume he's been suspended more than actually played or close to it. So, if we bring him back, we need to take in account that there is probably a 50/50 shot he relapses and is suspended again. My point no way I'd trust him as a solution, maybe 2nd backup.

I don't disagree, my advocacy for him is simply for us to keep him around on the off chance he is capable of playing this year, not as the #1 or #2. We should be bringing 2 FS on board this offseason besides him.

For example, if the FO thinks Corey Lynch can be a consistent starter as FS, then I would like to see us sign him, and then maybe draft someone like D.J. Swearinger or Tony Jefferson in the 3rd, or possibly even someone in the 2nd, and have Jackson as the #3.

Not coming off an achilles injury. Him not getting paid has nothing to do with marijuana use.

Anquan Boldin told NBC's Erik Kuselias that he intends to retire if the Ravens release him this offseason.
"They will be his last team," passes along Kuselias. The Baltimore Sun reported late this week that the cap-strapped Ravens would prefer to sign Boldin to a contract extension, reducing his salary cap number. Currently, Boldin is owed a non-guaranteed salary of $6 million. Set to commit upwards of $20 million to Joe Flacco, GM Ozzie Newsome will have to get creative to keep Boldin.
