I'd be surprised if we got anything for Royster. If we had a healthy Helu, I'm not even sure he would have made our roster, IMO. You don't have to add LSH to the OP unless others are in agreement. He isn't known for blocking because of his size so I doubt MS takes a chance.

There is NO WAY that Doughty gets release. For $1.1 million, you wont find any vet on the market that will beat the "bang for the buck value" that we get from him.

Doughty is one of the core guys on ST and provides quality depth at both safety positions althought he is definitely better at SS. Seriously, these guys are not guys you can just pick off the street.

Every year when ES is trying to replace Doughty they seem to forget this. Finding a guy that can play on almost every ST unit and excel at their role is very valuable. Doughty being the 4th/5th safety isn't a problem even at $1.1 million. The issue is the #1/2 and even #3 spots ahead of him. He's a good role player, he just isn't a long term starter. That's okay.

Exactly, we need about 3-4 more guys like Doughty that are good role players but yet does not demand too much money. I dont understand why people hate on Doughty when they dont do the same for Alexander. Although Alexander can play more positions than Doughty, essentionally, their value for this about the same with Alexander being little more valuable. Alexander can play more positions but Doughty is a better being a safety than Alexander is at being any position IMHO.

Anyone think we might have some interest in Josh Cribbs? He'd be nice to bring in as a return specialist who can also function as a decent WR as well. Better than Banks that's for sure. Also he's a DC native so he'd probably be interested.

Hall's heart is truly in taking a pay cut rather than a restructure, I could be wrong about that, but we'll see.
On Hall, in the back of my head I thought I heard him asked about this awhile ago in a radio interview, maybe it was on one of his weekly appearances on Lavar/Dukes show where he suggested that he's cool with the idea of restructuring but not so much a pay cut. But I could be confusing him for another player/interview.

I am in the camp that we should take a look at Hester and Cribbs type of players to add on to our offense. I think though that these guys will still demand 2-3 mil per year contracts. If we decided to keep Moss on the roster than I dont think we can justisfy that type of investment in the Brandon Banks role that we had last year with this year's cap penalty.

Someone to catch the ball and kneel down in the endzone gets more yards than Banks ever did... I mentioned Cribbs in here a few weeks ago, I'd also watch to see if Hester gets his wish and is released.

Don't forget the guy I mentioned on the last page, LaRod Stephens-Howling. He's younger and probably a better returner right now than either of the two and can catch out of the backfield.

A Cribbs or Hester could be nice but they're 29 and 30 respectively and will most likely be seeking a bit more money than we should be using on that position. Larod Stephens-Howling is a guy that I'm a lot more interested in. He'd fit that Reggie Bush/Darren Sproles role well and could add even more flexibility to those packages we attempted to utilize Banks in. I think his price tag could be significantly lower and he's still entering his prime rather than leaving it. I love that in that first video SemperFi posted he outran the last player to the endzone rather than trying to cut back and getting caught by his pursuers. He broke multiple tackles and didn't try to get too cute with it. In that last video he showed amazing balance as he finished the run to the endzone.

He's near the top of my FA wishlist if his price isn't too high. A great compliment to Morris if he can pass block too.

He's one tough little SOB... Check out this catch out of the backfield and then he gets whopped by DLineman Jamaal Anderson... and look who comes up whobbly

So, if we were to target guys in free agency, realistically, who would we target? Top 3 at CB and SAF ... since I think those are the primary areas of focus.

    CB:
    1.
    2.
    3.

    SAF:
    1.
    2.
    3.

Doughty is trash because he can't out leap Andre Johnson for a jump ball...remember? I mean every 2nd string safety should be able to do that.

Randy Starks - DL - Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland reiterated that bringing back free agent DT Randy Starks is a priority. (Son of a...)
"It's very important to have Randy back if we can get it done," Ireland said. "The fact of the matter is we have a very good defensive line, and keeping that intact is a focus of mine." Starks is a prime candidate for the franchise tag, which would cost the Dolphins $8.306 million.

I think our DL is fine, even if we release Carriker. If we have the DL we currently have in 2013 we'll be just fine. Now, if we release Carriker, I would like to see the team grab a NT in the mid-rounds to potentially rotate with Cofield. But I don't think the DL needs any FA additions ... even guys like Starks ... who would command a lot of money.

We need a Doughty meter. I'd bet that as soon as we get to about 70-80% positive, he's about to get cut
A bad plan well executed may work. A good plan badly executed will always fail.
