Yeah who is this Ron brace guy!?
Follow me @KDawg_ES on Twitter. It's a bundle of X's, O's and Laughs. Both at me and with me
Seems like Brace ended up at DE with the Pats...
Wasn't he the guy who everyone was saying (probably me as well), "Brace makes BJ Raji look good, Brace is a sleeper!" Looks like it was the other way around.

NFL | Johnny Knox calling it quits
Former Chicago Bears WR Johnny Knox (spine) said he is done playing football as he still suffers from the effects of a devastating spinal injury 13 1/2 months ago. "As an athlete, you don't want to give up, you want to keep on fighting. That's how I've always been," Knox says. "But it's been on my heart for a while. I know how my body feels, and I know I'm not going to be the same and perform at the ability that I used to."
Raiders | Two could be jettisoned for savings (Our boy Willie Smith may be back on the block)
The Oakland Raiders could consider cutting LB Travis Goethel and OT Willie Smith for savings against the cap in 2013. Neither is going to break the bank, the Raiders are struggling to get under the cap and have tough decisions to make. Cutting Goethel would save $575,000, while cutting Smith would create $550,000 in space. Smith is a zone-blocking guy, and the team is expected to get away from that scheme.

Bills | More on Nick Barnett's release
Updating a previous report, the Buffalo Bills released LB Nick Barnett because of a failed physical.
Chargers | Danario Alexander expected to return (Damn..)
The San Diego Chargers are expected to re-sign restricted free-agent WR Danario Alexander this offseason and give him a bigger opportunity on offense next season.
Raiders | Mike Brisiel could be released
The Oakland Raiders could release OG Mike Brisiel this offseason in order to create $2.82 million in salary cap space. The team likely is moving on from the zone-blocking scheme which would make Brisiel expendable.
That's a real shame about Johnny Knox but just shows, once again, how quickly careers end in this sport. Big loss for Da Bears...

Brace is a nice depth signing with potential. Unlikely to live up to that potential, but it is there so give him a shot.
We work together and your name is Richard and I call you Dick and you hate it. You ask me to stop. I refuse, so you go to HR and they say "well he has been calling you Dick for several months so we think you set the precedence, sorry". Frustrated you ask me again." Hey man stop calling me Dick" I say "Sorry Dick, it's tradition, HR said so" Well in that scenario there is only one dick and it aint Richard. Why be that guy?

Washington Redskins sign Ron Brace
Feb 14th, 2013 at 11:08 am by Joe SorianoPlayer News
Former New England Patriots and Boston College Eagles defensive tackle Ron Brace has finally found a new home in the NFL, as the Washington Redskins have decided to take a flier on the former second-round draft pick. Brace never found his footing in New England despite being given multiple opportunities to put flashes into consistent performance, and he was thus released by the Patriots in late December after the 26-year-old barely made the roster.
Brace could end up making the Redskins roster in training camp, and I actually like this signing for the Redskins. Brace actually has great character and took the release from the Patriots with a lot of self-accountability, and he deserves another crack at making an NFL roster. He has potential, as evidenced by his 6’3″, 330 pound frame and potential skill-set as a penetrating pocket rusher in the interior of a defensive line.
The Redskins could definitely use another body on the defensive line, and their defensive tackle situation isn’t quite as optimal as it should be. Washington just made a nice, low-risk signing by picking up Brace, and hopefully he can realize his potential and reshape his career in the nation’s capital. I’m sure most New England Patriots fans still genuinely like Brace, even though it was obvious that the Patriots made the right move to get rid of the second-round disappointment.

I like the Brace signing. I dont expect much but did/does have some potential as a depth guy; in our scheme I think he could play both NT and DE. He is another Nelid/Baker type so a little competition is a good thing (we're not sure where Nelid is in his recovery from ACL).
Well... let's see what's up with Brace before we rush to judgement. New England has played a 4-3 for two years and he wasn't going to unseat Vince Wilfork when they ran a 3-4.
Worst case, he's camp fodder. Likely he is a "just in case" for Chris Neild if there are any plans for him other than a punching bag for Monty, Chester, Lich, and Ribs.
