Anyway he'd get laughed at for asking for 8 million per.

The best he should ask for is double his base from this year (1,927,000), at most 3.8 to 4 mil/per, maybe bonuses and an escalating scale. Realistically he should ask for 120% to 150% raise from his base this year - working somewhere between 2.3 to 2.8 mil/per.
Considering he turned down 3 years/$15million before this season started he most certainly won't be settling for $2.8/year. He might not get $8/year but he'll certainly get $6-7million/year.

Good post, I have to agree with you on all of those. Sucks that the money will be tight this year because I'd like to have all of those first two blocks of guys back. The guys I'm worried about being borderline on being brought back that I think losing would hurt us the most are Davis and Jackson. Good chance Fletch decides to retire. If he does that makes retaining Jackson that much more vital.

Tony Romo, as much of a choke artist as he is, is still a really good NFL quarterback. And Rob Jackson did a hell of a lot more than just that crucial interception, which by the way, sealed 1st in the NFC East for us. Bengals pick-6 in his first start, Strip-sack-fumble recovery on Flacco in the Ravens game... the guy makes plays. Why is it such a bad thing to admit he's talented? Because he's behind Orakpo on the depth chart?

Jackson is a hidden gem that was unearthed when Orakpo went down and he played like a BEAST before and during the winning streak. The guy deserves to get PAID and needs to be a mainstay here for years to come.

Agreed, he wont be paid big time money, but pay him his worth because we need depth at OLB, with Jackson resigned, we can draft a mid/late round pass rushing OLB to groom.
A 3rd pass rusher that can come in and contribute will spell both Kerrigan/Orakpo and keep them fresh. He's not overated, he finally got his chance to shine. He had 4.5 sacks, with probably half the amount of snaps as Kerrigan.

But most league publications I have seen have him as a UFA. So that's the longer answer. lol.

The short answer is I don't have a clue, lol, but if I had to side, I would side with the kffl sources, etc that say he is UFA.
Rob Jackson is a RFA ... Been out for awhile he's a RFA & Rob says he's a RFA.

Jackson at worst seems to be a very good nicklebacker. Kind of reminds me of Monte Coleman who was a star though never a starter. The guy has great hands and a knack for making plays. It's always dangerous when a player shines in his contract year, but on the other hand, this was the first time he really got field time and a chance.

Keep him if at all possible. Same with Lorenzo Alexander.

Davis is a different question. He's good and we know it, but for the last two seasons he missed the final several games and the offense didn't suffer or really miss a beat. So, while he'd be good to keep in a normal year, if he's expensive, he's a luxury. Honestly, to me he's not worth 8, 5, or even three million a year to keep... especially, not coming off a huge injury and with the chance that one drug slip up will cost us his services for a year.

I was thinking about Rob Jackson the other day and I too was thinking of how he reminds me of Monte Coleman. Very good company to be mentioned in!!

I agree he's a good player, and does deserve to get paid. But can we afford to pay him? We're going to pay him decent money to be a special-teams player who gets in a few defensive packages?

Yep... the same dude who almost single handedly beat 5 out of the last 6 teams he faced (us beating him twice). Anyone who argues Rob Jackson's effectiveness as an OLB is hating or has an agenda.

He's not a must-have, he's a should-have. I imagine the only way he doesn't come back here is if he decides he wants starter money/starter playing time.

In that case he will have to get it somewhere else. But he has a chance to be part of something really special here if he is willing to stay in his current role (or possibly slide in at ILB if Fletch retires).

So the ball is really in his court. He just has to decide what is more important to him: cha$ching and personal goals or a legit shot at a ring and being an integral part of that effort. I know what I would choose but I can't make that decision for him.

The Palm Beach Post says impending free agent Reggie Bush still "badly" wants to return to Miami.
Bush's representation is reportedly "confused" why the Dolphins have yet to make an offer. Look no further than the cheaper, younger, and maybe more-talented Lamar Miller as the reasoning, Reggie. CBS' Jason La Canfora has deemed Bush "highly unlikely" to return to Miami, and that "team-friendly" offer the Dolphins were planning may not even make it out of the printer.

Well, per LL we'll get to tender him now. I think we'll be okay with Five-O for this season. We'll know how Orakpo is doing as well by the time we need to sign Rob long term.
