problem is, all these guys are gonna want to be paid like and play left tackle.. I don't see any of them accepting a paycut and a "demotion" to the right side (maybe except Vollmer)
I think even at 7 mil/yr they're still priced out of the skins range.... although I'd be happy to be wrong
Barry Cofield is LEGIT... no more nonsense about we need a "real" NT... HE IS THE REAL DEAL!!!! He goes to the Pro Bowl this year, book it!!!

There are actually quite a few which are already RT's... Andre Smith, Branden Albert, Gosder Cherilus, Sebastian Vollmer, Loadholt, etc.

Sadly, I agree. I think Hurt/Compton play RT for us this year.

but I guarantee they're all looking for LT money, as they're all capable of handling the position well.

Yeah I understood that point, and there's no way in hell I would want him here for a massive deal.

I was merely expressing that if the opportunity arose, we should sign him to a very modest deal, like the one Carlos got from San Fran the first time around since he too wanted a mega contract, but couldn't find one.

Okay reading through here I must reiterate that Orakpo is much better than Jackson. Jackson is good, but come on now people (not all) you can't be so reactionary, people just have good seasons out of the blue sometimes with a little but of luck. Until Jackson does that again, that is all it was until then.

I would like for us to tender Jackson and then allow his agent to shop for a trade. I think he's worth a 4th rounder...If nobody bites, then we keep him for a year while Rak proves out his health.

Tell me more about this guy? I see that he's a CFL player, but why are you so high on him?
"Washington strolled to the NFC championship, outscoring their two playoff opponents by a combined total of 48 points. Their domination was more than impressive, it was historic. The 1991 Redskins boasted the largest average margin of victory among all Super Bowl champions."

That coupled with the depth in the draft this year was a point I brought up a few weeks back. Along with the ILB market.

I honestly think that the day of the big "2nd pay day" are gone save for a playmaker that sneaks out onto the market. It should be interesting from here on out.

Here is a link with some info about him:

If you look at the OP, then you'd see we have him as the number 1 target. Last I had heard we were interested, but Pittsburgh is looking at giving him between $5-7 mil per season in a 4 year deal. We'll have to see. I'd love to get him in here.

Than you for posting the link!

I haven't even seen us giving him a workout yet. Unfathomable in my opinion.

If Fletcher Retires Nick Barnett would be a very nice 2 year stop gap who would probably come relatively cheap

    6'6, 325.
He's 25 to start the season and has more experience than any rookie would provide. He's able to come in and start. I don't think any Lineman we have has his athleticism other than T. Williams.
Extremely versatile, has started at LT, G, and RT.
His athleticism at his size is remarkable.
Won best Olineman in the CFL (mainly playing RT) this year and was the runner up for it last year.
Only gave up 1 sack all season.
    Hasn't missed a game in 3 seasons.
He plays with a mean streak and lead the BC Lions to the number 1 running attack in the CFL.
Only issue is he has hypertension which he already has stated is under control and takes medication for.

The BC Lions run almost the same offense we do with a mobile quarterback and quick, shifty RB's/WR's.

Then who do you suggest is our depth?

Jackson is a true linebacker in all sense of the word. Overall, he is the better linebacker than Orakpo, hands down. And i'm a huge Orakpo supporter. Orakpo is a pass rushing specialist. There is more value in Jackson at this point to keep around.

    http://www.rotoworld.com/sports/nfl/football?rw=1

Cary Williams - DB - Ravens The Ravens have stated adamantly that Joe Flacco is their only candidate for the franchise tag.
In other words, the Ravens won't be tagging CB Cary Williams or OLB Paul Kruger if they hammer out a deal with Flacco. The franchise deadline is March 4, and we suspect Flacco will be affixed with the pricey, one-year, guaranteed tender just ahead of that date. Williams and Kruger are likely headed for the open market.

Percy Harvin - WR - Vikings Citing a league source, Profootballtalk.com reports that Percy Harvin will skip all offseason activities so long as the Vikings haven't upgraded his contract.
This is the approach players seeking raises normally take. Per PFT, Harvin plans to sit out OTAs and minicamps as well as training camp if the Vikings don't meet his demands. The obvious alternative to paying Harvin would be for GM Rick Spielman to trade him to a club willing to commit eight figures per year and $30-plus million guaranteed. The financial implications are the main reason we don't expect Minnesota to receive a first-round pick for Harvin via trade.

George Wilson - DB - Bills Bills released SS George Wilson.
The move clears $2.9 million in base salary off the books, bringing Buffalo's total Monday savings to $6.4 million when combined with WLB Nick Barnett's release. Pro Football Focus graded Wilson as the No. 8 safety in the entire league in 2012, but the new Bills coaching staff obviously didn't regard him as highly. Wilson turns 32 this offseason. He can still cover and fills hard in run support, so he should have a good chance to land on his feet.

Terrell Thomas - DB - Giants Giants signed DB Terrell Thomas to a restructured contract.
Financial details should emerge this week, but it's expected to be a one-year, "prove-it" type deal where Thomas plays out the 2013 season in hopes of improving his 2014 market value. Thomas has torn his ACL three times, including the right ACL on one of the first practices of 2012 training camp. He is expected to compete for sub-package duties at cornerback and/or safety this summer.

Yes sir! The main reason for me being upset is the fact that teams are looking at him like the Ravens, Steelers, Packers but they are afraid of his medical issues. (technically I don't see it as an issue if he just takes the damn pill) It obviously hasn't hampered his performance.

This is the token FA, young, cheap, can fill a void and immediately upgrade a position of need. I'll take the Percy Harvins, Reggie Bush's, Jairus Byrd's any day of the week but it's just not reality. This, IMO, is a must for due diligence.
