He's not bad, but this might be the deepest CB FA class in the history of the NFL. There's no less than 13 guys (most of whom are on the OP, save for the pipe dreams) who are better than DeAngelo Hall.
If he was worth $8 mil, he wouldn't be asked to take a pay cut would he?

To be fair, D-Hall was the guy who offered to restructure, like, two seasons ago at the end of 2011, and we didn't.
And it's a deep class of corners to be sure, but we have to be able to sign those guys. We probably need about $20 million just to be able to function has as a team. And that $20 million has to be spent on re-signing our RFA's, resigning guys like Fred and Zo, plus paying our draft picks, plus paying our practice squad guys on futures contracts. When we do all that, we may not have enough money to get one of the many corners and DB's on the market.
He knows he's not worth 8M himself, but Hall and the team must be pretty far apart in terms of the restructure.
It'd be nice to know just how far apart, if it's a small divide, like 1M, then that can be worked on, but if it's something larger, like 3-4M, or a paycut vs. no paycut but restructured payments, then cutting him might be best.
I just hope we can do something like right of first refusal. Cut Hall, let him test the market, and when he determines his worth let us have a chance to match it. I have a feeling he'll be getting much less than he wants and might come crawling back on our terms. Only a few more days.
I'm really glad that my spring breaks have been lining up with FA the past couple years. Now if only I could get another spring break during the draft in April...
People need to stop talking like a player being "willing to restructure" is some kind of grand gesture. It just means a player is willing to "accept" taking a bonus now rather than salary later. It's a scant minority who aren't willing to do so, and teams don't take them up on it because they are giving some consideration to the future.
Which is why it would be wise to not drastically overpay a player, which is what I would consider giving Hall 8 million to be.
Re-structure... not take a pay cut.
Agreed, it's not an ideal situation and there is no telling what will happen or who we'll sign. I like D. Hall. I like his attitude and I like how fiery he is, but he has to realize what his value is. I'd be interested in finding out what we offered him.And it's a deep class of corners to be sure, but we have to be able to sign those guys. I tend to agree with this logic. I think most teams don't particularly like his antics, and he has seemed to find some level of comfort here playing for his home town team. Don't think another team would give him much more than 3 to 4 mil so I think vs uprooting himself, he would stay here for the same.
I know there are better corners, but can't help but think about what he did vs Bryant in the season finally against Dallas.....
D-Hall's contract is a leftover from Vinny's tenure, a particularly bad one. That Bruce was able to work it the way he did to essentially get most of his money off the books the first time he restructured D-Hall's contract is a minor miracle. And doing that (even though it was complete bull****) got us in the trouble we're in now.

I think the question was "Would you be open to restructuring your contract?" lol. I am 100% sure that was in there somewhere. This is all semantics either way. I just hope that Mike gave him a night or two to think about it. Self-evaluation is one of the hardest things a man or woman will ever have to do. Let him think on it.
