How I feel about your article and analysis:

Seriously, you packed an entire Safety 101 class into a really in depth FA review. Thank you for writing these.

Former USC DT, wasn't really a sack machine in college, but might have turned into one if not for medical problems. Went to CFL, has been pretty dominant there. Teams are giving him looks now. He's 6-5, 300 lbs, so he has the body of a 3-4 DE. I have no idea about his skills though.

He's probably not a good fit, but if someone knew more maybe they could speak to that.
People need to start paying more attention to DogofWar1 and his skills.

Look at the post above from him on 13 Jan 2013....

And then check this out from Schefter today:

Patriots announced they officially have signed former USC and CFL standout DL Armond Armstead.

    Good job, Dog.

    Rotoworld nuggets:

Good news for those holding out on the Brad Jones front *my fingers are still crossed*:

Packers ILB Desmond Bishop (hamstring) will be fully recovered soon, and is expected to participate in OTAs.
Bishop ruptured his right hamstring in the preseason opener and missed the entire 2012 season. Being almost six months removed from the injury now, Bishop will "spend his entire offseason training and working out, as opposed to going through rehabilitation." OTAs start in late-May. Green Bay sorely missed Bishop's physical presence in the middle last season.

Competition for Safeties from our little brothers to the north:

The Eagles are expected to address the safety position this offseason.
The Philly Mag: Birds 24/7 Blog says to "not be surprised" if the Eagles add help through free agency and the draft. Safeties Nate Allen and Kurt Coleman are entering the final years of their rookie deals, while Colt Anderson is a restricted free agent. So, by the time Week 1 rolls around, Philadelphia could look awfully different on the back end.

First things first... I'm hoping we take a flier on Vernon Carey, at least for a tryout.

I had a dream last night that we traded with the Vikings a 4th and a 7th rounder for Percy Harvin, and then signed Reggie Bush in FA... O-M-G!

What are the odds on your dreams being preminitions? That would be so much speed you'd almost have to go to the games to watch.

Well the big question would be contracts... Reggie Bush is attainable and affordable, but I fear there will be a bidding war over his services. 4-5 mil per year is what he SHOULD be expecting.

Percy Harvin in the Vikings are holding out on the inevitable breakup and he's coming in to a contract year, however, Leslie Frazier and the Vikes front office does not want to let him go, nor should they. He requested a trade or release last year and it was not granted. I think he'll play out his contract in Minnestona, or ride the bench there until his contract is up, unfortunately. But if there is a slim chance, I think he may be requesting an extremely high price tag of around 7-8 mil per year which we could not afford.

I've heard rumors though that he does not like playing for Ponder as his QB... So maybe he takes a "cap friendly" contract to come play with RG3?

Can you imagine? I certainly can't... Talk about a high scoring, fast paced offense... You would see piles of dung from defensive players when they stepped on the field and saw this offense.

The Washington Redskins could consider assistant special teams coach Richard Hightower and former [COLOR="red"]Tennessee Titans special teams coach Alan Lowry for their special teams coaching position.

Ooohh. Pick me, pick me! I'd take Lowry in a heartbeat!!

Devin Hester - WR - Bears ESPN Chicago calls Devin Hester a "long shot" to contribute on offense in 2013.
Hester has one year left on his deal at $1.858 million, and he caught a five-year low 26 passes for just 242 yards and one touchdown last season. Beat writer Jeff Dickerson thinks the Bears could keep him around just for the return game, but he wonders whether it would just be best to cut Hester and let him move on. The Bears already have Eric Weems, who was a Pro Bowl returner in 2010 with Atlanta.

Kellen Davis - TE - Bears ESPN Chicago says it would be an "upset" if Kellen Davis returns to the Bears.
Davis is due $2.5 million in total for the final year of his two-year deal, but he proved to be a complete bust in 2012. He has appeared in all 80 games in his five seasons in the league, but Davis has managed to put up just 47 catches for 529 yards and 11 scores over that time. According to Pro Football Focus, Davis dropped eight of his 44 targets last year.

This dude is 6'7, 270 and a huge target... but he tends to drop the ball a lot, then again so did Jimmy Graham. He'd probably be my very last option though if we were looking for TE in FA...

I'd really only put him in for RedZone situations... It'd be hard to keep the ball out of his reach lol

No way on Kellen Davis. He cant block at all, he cant catch, and he is a 6'7" wuss. Watch a whole Bears game and you will see what I mean. Bears' fans cant stand him.

I've heard the same as well. Nobody in Chicago wants him back.

Bills president Russ Brandon stated Friday that Buffalo has yet to open extension talks with free agent LG Andy Levitre and FS Jairus Byrd.
Byrd is an obvious franchise-tag candidate because the franchise number for safeties is so affordable. Levitre, ideally, would be signed to a long-term deal. "As far as talks are concerned, there’s nothing at this point that’s concrete," said a noncommittal Brandon. "We would love to have both guys back."

Free agent RB Chris Rainey has pleaded no contest to a charge of disorderly conduct and paid nearly $500 in fines resulting from last month's arrest.
The arrest led to Rainey's quick release from the Steelers. He wasn't claimed off waivers, suggesting it's a career-threatening incident for the 2012 fifth-round pick. Rainey was arrested on January 10 after an argument with a woman over a cellphone. He wound up allegedly slapping her in the face with an open hand.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more news or discussion on possible replacements for Smith's vacancy departure to Pittsburgh. Alan Lowry and Richard Hightower have been the only names mentioned thus far to fill the position.

If Byrd somehow hits the open market, I don't care how bad our cap situation is, we have to be in the bidding.
