Everything I've seen has him going in the 4th round at the latest. Most have him in the 3rd.

Yea, its official. Percy Harvin is my #1 acquisition at this point. 2.9 mil in 2013 is way more than affordable for a guy with this talent. He's been cleared to resume practice.... I can't imagine what he'd do in this offense.

I don't believe I'm "quibbling" about anything. It's a discussion board and I'm taking part in a discussion, I'm sorry that I seem to have bothered you by disagreeing. You gave your opinion and I voiced mine with an example that I believe supports the contrary. It's fine that you disagree and we can surely agree to disagree, but it's unnecessary to belittle my stance with your above quote.

Feel free to take the second part of my post as a general comment and not directed toward yourself. I am not attempting to bait you into a response and agree to disagree.

NFL rosters are zero sum. Whether it is draft picks or salary cap space to prioritize or spend on one position leaves less resources for others. So if our team's priority was landing a premiere (insert offensive weapon here) we could see the team package multiple draft picks to move up and select said player. While I wouldn't predict this that is one example of how adding offensive weapons could deter the team from loading up on defense.

    SemperFi despite this:

    "16. Washington Redskins (27)
    PB – 15th, RB – 19th, PEN – 9th
Stud: It was close, but Trent Williams (+19.7) had himself a heck of a year where he really became the player he was drafted to be. One of these guys that can contribute whatever play you’re running.
Dud: There’s no denying that Tyler Polumbus (-24.1) had some good days, but all too often he was the guy letting the line down. His performance in pass protection is something they should look to upgrade.
Summary: The line took a big step forward this year with Williams exceptional, Will Montgomery establishing himself as one of the better centers out there, and Chris Chester playing up to his contract. The rest of the line? Well, that’s why they’re not any higher. "

Ten to one there will still be numerous posts about how to upgrade our center. Every analyst and site has been ranking WillMont higher every year and every year he seems like a target for folks on this borad. . . sigh HTTR

I wasn't saying to necessarily sign Asmougha but, if the FO is rolling around FA with then intention of signing no one over the age of 30, they they are just denying themselves some possible value. That is like moneyball 101 in baseball. If a guy can give you a year or 2 of good football for a lower than market cost... you do it.

He also played and graduated from T.C. Williams in Alexandria.
Hightower is OUR assistant special teams coach so it's not a huge reach they have him the frame. The insiders seem to think he has the inside track on the job.

Let me move it to baseball, lets say you think the starting pitching of the Nationals is more than fine but the team needs serious upgrades to their lineup. And someone tells you, he hears that the team is actually even more concerned about upgrading the starting pitching. Yeah that would get your attention regardless if you know how they are going about improving their starting pitching.

if i follow you, you are saying the team is going BPA within reason of need. Am cool with that. And I agree if that's their tact, the draft board just goes with the flow. Some on the board expect them to likely go safety and corner within picks 2nd-4th -- this could mean not neccesarily.

Agree, it could mean this. Some like Omar Kelly who covers the Dolphins like to say its better to draft defensive players and sign offensive FA players because arguably young defensive players adjust quicker to the NFL game whereas certain offensive positions take longer to master ala the WR position.

If he said it the way you do here, I agree it doesn't say much. This implies well you guys think its going to be primarily an off season dedicated to improving defense -- and you are right but don't get too carried they won't do defense exclusively. Yeah if that's what was said, it wouldn't mean much to anybody. No team goes 100% on one side of the ball.

But the way i take the statement is you guys think the offseason is going to be primarily dedicated to upgrading defense -- if so, you are wrong, there will be a heavier concentration on offense. yeah I think that makes you think some. Count me among those who were thinking it would be primarily defense with a sprinkle of offense.

Um...I'm not bothered at all *shrugs* and I didn't intend to 'belittle' your stance by using quibbling. It takes two people to have a discussion, argument or a quibble.

We just happen to disagree over a minor point of contention which imo makes us (me included) involved in what I believe to be a quibble. I'm not stranger to quibbling. I quibble with Martin and Skinsparadise all the time with no ill will.

My main issue was defining exaclty what we were about to disagree over.

And I welcome disagreement because it leads to discussion. This board would boring if everyone agreed all the time.

    Cheers

(You have to excuse me as I know squadosh about baseball)

I believe the distinction you're making is too sublime to be meaningful. Imo either one of your interpretations above could be true at the same time with the exact same FA and draft results. Which gets back to my original view of the tweet; its so vague that it lends itself to several different interpretations which imo renders it inconsequential.

And you very well maybe right. But again, are you refering to FA or draft? Are you refering to early in the draft or late?

I have a question for you: what do you think the team will do if a WR and SAF have the same grade and both are available in the 2nd round? Is this different from what you thought before LL's tweet?

Imo if LL tweet means anything we should see an offensive moves made in FA; agree or disgaree?

Ryan Mundy with Pittsburgh would be my first choice for them getting our Special Team Coach

Agree that LL's tweet is too vague to answer this question or maybe a better way to answer it is it depends on what they do in FA. If they sign Lynch and they believe they are in a need of a WR and a good one is on the board in the 2nd round, maybe they go WR.

I recall from the last free agent period, LL is pretty good at times with leads as things get closer. I recall him for example talking about Josh Morgan as a target.

Personally, I am into fixing what I think is the obvious, safety, corner, and RT. Although if the team feels that Compton solves the RT issue, I'll trust it. You might recall from a debate we had about the team's Wrs, am not in love with our crop but I think its a good enough group when you got Garcon and Davis in the lineup. So I personally in the 2nd round, everything being equal would go safety.

I've said multiple times that I want him on our squad next year but I never thought about bringing him in as a ST coach. Definitely a move that would surprise many.
